The upcoming next-generation BMW RR series superbikes will be based on the Concept RR as they debut in the coming years.
BMW Motorrad Concept RR has made its world premiere at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este at Lake Como. The company has officially stated that it previews the new-generation of BMW RR superbike models. Based on the BMW Motorrad factory superbike M 1000 RR, BMW Concept RR will borrow its 4-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. Furthermore, several other elements such as engine management, traction control, and engine brake will also be shared with the M 1000 RR which won the FIM World Superbike Championship last year.
Markus Flasch, Head of BMW Motorrad: “Never before has BMW Motorrad provided such an early glimpse into a future generation of the RR models. The BMW Motorrad Concept RR is a true masterpiece of our development team, both technically and in terms of design language. Guided and inspired by the BMW Motorrad factory superbike M 1000 RR, with which BMW Motorrad factory rider Toprak Razgatlioğlu was able to dominantly win the FIM World Superbike Championship last year, the Concept RR offers a true firework of superlatives for both street and track use.”

Ther German brand has extensively used high-tech materials such as carbon and aluminum in the Concept RR to make it a lightweight motorcycle. The styling is done on the basis of three principles namely Sharp, Purposeful and Expressive. It flaunts an embossed RR logo at the rear while an illuminated RR is also visible on the downside of the delicate aluminum tail.
BMW claims that the engineering team has laid special emphasis on the aerodynamic character of the RR Concept. In particular, “riding stability at very high speeds,” “maximum cornering speeds,” and “minimal air resistance for optimal top speed” have been specifically taken care of. It has been presented with a ventilated front and rear profile.

The Concept RR also boasts of an aerodynamically optimized fairing with integrated winglets and high-performance brakes. The in-line 4-cylinder engine at the helm of the concept will make top power of over 227 bhp. BMW has also rolled out a special lifestyle jacket with the unveiling of the Concept RR and it has been named as Concept RR LTD jacket. Limited to just 50 units, it has been crafted in fine calf Nappa leather while partnering with traditional Bavarian company MEINDL.
“The transfer from racing to road has never been shown more clearly. It represents BMW Motorrad’s leadership claim to offer the highest engineering level and maximum performance in this segment,” added Flasch.
