2020 Honda Hornet 160R BS6 Launch In July [Speculation]

Honda Hornet BS6 launch is expected next month; it should either get better kitted or be well priced if the company has to arrest the falling interest in the motorcycle…

Only a few days back Honda launched its BS6 Grazia, and teased the next upcoming product – 2020 Livo. Following that, the company appears to be ready with the next product in the pipeline. Currently, Honda does NOT have any premium 150cc motorcycle in the BS6 lineup. Both the Hornet 160R and the X-Blade were discontinued ahead of the BS6 mandate.

Among these two models, since the Hornet nameplate is more popular, Honda may be considering to launch it in the market first. How soon? Speculations are rife that the BS6 version of the popular motorbike could be launched as soon as the coming month – i.e., July 2020.

The updated Hornet is expected to come with slight revisions to its design, and emission related updates to its engine. The same 160cc motor may continue – it has already gone on to the new Unicorn BS6. However, power and torque figures are expected to be better (than the new Uni). For reference, the air-cooled fuel-injected motor on the Unicorn produces 12.9 PS of peak power at 7500 rpm and 14 Nm torque at 5500 rpm.

There is also a possibility of the new Hornet adorning the recently patented CBF 190’s styling here. We have discussed this opinionated possibility here.

Talking about prices, since the motorcycle is expected to get fair bit of changes over its BS4 version, we believe it will easily cross that one-lakh price barrier. It may cost between 1.05 lakh to 1.10 lakh ex-showroom which will mean hefty increments over the BS4 model.
