Honda India Makes Top Management Changes

The last 16-17 months have been extremely challenging for the overall two-wheeler industry. Honda has reported two consecutive years of negative growth. And it appears that things may go down further with the COVID-19 pandemic causing havoc in every sphere of life.

To fight out the black clouds, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has made key changes to its top management. It has got in Mr Atsushi Ogata as the new President, CEO and Managing Director of the company. Mr Ogata is also an Operating Executive at Honda Japan.

Atsushi has replaced Mr Minoru Kato who was at the helm here in India for the last three years. He goes back to Japan and takes up the Operating Executive & Chief Officer Life creation operation at Honda Japan.

Apart from this, there are many senior leadership changes which are as follows..

Mr Yadvinder Singh Guleria, who was the Senior Vice-President, Sales & Marketing at Honda India, has been elevated to the Board of Directors in the company. He also has additional charge of Customer Service, Logistics Planning & Control, Premium Motorcycle Business, Brand & Communication and Sales & Marketing.

Honda is yet to update most of its portfolio to BS6 which also includes the Hornet 160R

Mr Vijay Dhingra, who was the Senior Vice President, General & Corporate Affairs, has also been promoted to the Board of Directors with additional responsibilities of Strategic Information System and General Corporate Affairs.

Mr V. Sridhar who was previously the GVP & Director of Manufacturing, has been elevated as the Senior Director – Purchase.
