Miami based United Motorcycles kept on display at the Auto Expo their set of interesting motorcycles which were all cruisers under the brand name ‘Renegade’ along with sports Xtreet.
Through the official press release the company cleared that they intend to launch their products in India during the third quarter of this year between October to December 2014. They also shared that their Indian motorcycles will all be in the 200-280cc segment. In an earlier report, we learnt that UM will launch 4 cruisers in India (including Limited Edition of Renegade Commando).
In an update to their Indian foray, Zigwheels.com says that United Motorcycles will launch Renegade Commando and Renegade Sport in India in November this year. Further, they say that India will get the 225cc Renegade Sport and not the international version which is sold with the 196cc engine. This 225cc engine produces 18bhp of power output and 15.5Nm of torque.
Considering that UM has already revealed that prices of their bikes will start somewhere around Rs 75,000 and go on till 1.5 Lakhs, we assume that the entry level Renegade Sport is the one which will get the 75K moniker and the top of the line Commando Limited Edition will sell at around Rs 1.5 Lakhs.
While the Renegade Sport looks bare bones, the Commando looks real interesting. These cruisers will go head on against Bajaj Avenger 220 and Royal Enfield Bullets and others. At interesting price points, we feel, it is for the first time we will be witnessing competition in the cruiser segment in India.
