Both the motorcycles will be launched with hybrid technology and new features in the Indian market
Yamaha India is all set to launch the 2025 FZ-X and FZ-S at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo on Jan 17. Recently, the latest version of both the motorcycles was showcased to dealers and a few leaked images from the event revealed all the updates that they will get. First things first, the 2025 Yamaha FZ-X and FZ-S will get the Japanese brand’s hybrid technology which we have already seen in the Fascino and Ray ZR scooters. In addition, the duo is likely to come with a new TFT instrument console while available in new colour options.
The 2025 FZ-X will become the first 150cc motorcycle in the Indian market to come with hybrid tech including a Smart Motor Generator (SMG). The hybrid system not only gives a power boost but also improves the overall mileage of the bike. The current model, powered by the 149cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, delivers top power of 12.4 bhp and peak torque of 13.3 Nm. We expect the new iteration of the motorcycle to be significantly more powerful than the existing version. Furthermore, silent engine start and idle engine start-stop function will be there as standard.
The leaked images also show that the 2025 Yamaha FZ-X will boast of a coloured TFT instrument cluster with new switchgear. It will offer advanced features in the form of Bluetooth connectivity, call alerts, music playback control, and turn-by-turn navigation. The present LCD unit will be replaced by this latest TFT screen, which is already available with the R15 models. We expect the new FZ-S to retain all the other features from the current model including traction control and ABS.
Last but not the least, both the bikes will be presented in new colour options. The 2025 Yamaha FZ-X will be introduced in four new paint schemes while the 2025 Yamaha FZ-S will get six new colourways. The fuel tank will flaunt the Yamaha logo, irrespective of the colour shade. Both the motorcycles will come in two variants namely STD and DLX.
Yamaha FZ-X is presently retailed in the range of Rs 1.37-1.41 lakh (ex-showroom) in the domestic market. The updated model will be priced a bit higher due to the extra equipment and could attract a premium of at least Rs 7,000 – 10,000 if not more. It will rival TVS Ronin in the Indian market.
As for the FZ-S, it is sold in two grades namely STD (Rs 1.31 lakh) and DLX (Rs 1.32 lakh) in the country. Expect a similar hike in price as the FZ-X for the updated model of the bike. It will rival TVS Apache RTR 160 and Suzuki Gixxer 150 in India.
