As was expected, TVS Motor has announced an official update to its feature-packed Apache RTR 200 4V for 2022 with a new headlamp assembly equipped with their signature Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs).
TVS inform that the new headlamp and DRLs stay illuminated during the day to better aid in the visibility of the bike and the rider on the road to other vehicles, and seamlessly transitions into regular headlamps with high-beam for better road visibility for travelling during periods of low visibility during evenings and night.
Few weeks back, sibling Apache 160 also received a similar update. Apache RTR 200 4V is one of the most feature-packed motorcycle in its segment. It continues with features like – segment-first three riding modes – Sport, Urban and Rain – for an adaptable riding experience.
The motorcycle boasts Showa front suspension with preload adjustment for road & track and Showa rear suspension tuned for enhanced track performance. The TVS SmartXonnect provides an array of race analytics and data to review the rider’s racing style and helps improve the rider on track.
The 2022 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V continues to be powered by the same, peppy 197.75 cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, 4-valve, oil-cooled engine which is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
However, there has been a drop in both power and torque numbers. The motor develops 20.5 PS of power at 8,500 RPM and 16.8 Nm of torque at 7500 RPM. These are lower than the 2021 model by 0.32 PS and 0.45 Nm. These are the same numbers that the pre-2021 model produced. Why did TVS revert to these figures is not explained.
