2020 Yamaha MT15 BS6 gets a new colour and comes with new features which it shares with the R15. Many key details still not revealed by the company…
At an event in Chennai, Yamaha officially unveiled the 2020 MT15 in India which is now Bharat Stage VI compliant. In the process, the naked streetfighter also received some additional features.
Though it has not been officially confirmed yet, but MT15 BS6 is also expected to experience a drop in power and torque numbers like the new R15. The faired sporster now produces 18.6 PS of peak power and 14.1 Nm of torque from the same 155cc 4-valve engine.
In terms of additional features, it gets a radial tyre at the rear, side stand engine cut-off switch, however, it still continues with a single channel ABS. In order to refresh the lineup, Yamaha has also introduced the new Ice Fluo Vermillion colour which was showcased at EICMA in November. The two older colours Metallic Black and Dark Matt Blue will continue to be on sale.
It continues with features like Assist & Slipper clutch, specific ECU (different from R15), 282 mm front disc brake and the predator like pilot lamp and Bi functional LED headlamp.
Yamaha has not revealed the price of the motorcycle yet but considering that the hike on the R15 was minimal, we expect the MT15 BS6 to cost somewhere around Rs 1.40 Lakh ex-showroom, up from the current 1.36 Lakh it retails at.
