Trouncing Duke 390, RE Continenal GT Wins Indian Bike of the Year (IBOTY) Award

The just launched Royal Enfield Continental GT is bringing in laurels to the company. It has just won them the coveted Indian Bike of the Year Award for the year 2014.

The Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) and Indian Bike of the Year (IBOTY) awards are constituted in line with the international American Car of the Year, Japanese Car of the Year and European Car of the Year awards for respective countries. The jury of these awards constitutes leading automobile magazines along with partner JK Tyres, which have been associated with these awards since inception.

Competition:

While the ICOTY was won by Hyundai Grand i10, the Royal Enfield Continental GT was crowned as the Indian Bike of the Year 2014. Overall, there were 17 products that qualified for the awards from which 9 made it to the shortlisting phase. Continental GT was in final competition with KTM Duke 390, Hyosung Aquila Pro and Mahindra Centuro among the top four contenders for the top slot. And in the end, the brute Cafe Racer took away the glory. As many as six jurors out of nine rated it as the top choice.

These bikes were judged on parameters like fuel efficiency, styling, practicality, technical innovation, value for money perspective, price, performance etc.

Continental GT is a practical everyday motorcycle which lets you enjoy your rides. It is powered by a 535cc air cooled UCE engine which produces 29.1bhp of power output and 44Nm of peak torque. It is priced at Rs 2.05 Lakh on road in Delhi.
