Thump lovers rejoice, Chennai based Royal Enfield has launched an all new Electra with Twin Spark Unit Construction Engine (UCE). The engine has been borrowed from its sibling Thunderbird Twinspark. With a slew of launches in the past few months along with announcements of expansion plans, Royal Enfield has cleared the air that they want to take it headon.
Similar to Thunderbird, Electra with two spark plugs produces 19.8 horses and a mammoth torque of 28Nm. Clearly, these are good signs that traditional bike makers like Royal Enfield are also concentrating on revolutionizing their bikes with better and latest technology. According to the company, the bike has become more frugal along with better power spread. The bike comes with features like Gas charged shock absorbers at the rear, multi focal headlamp, 280mm disc brakes, redesigned silencer etc. This thumper would be available in three colors viz Black, Red and Silver.
Electra Twinspark would be available in two variants. The kick start version would retail for 90k whereas the self start version would retail for 94k, (both ex showroom Delhi).

Now that RE is updating tech, I hope their reliability increases exponentially.
Tubeless tyres and Alloy wheels would have made much impression…
the old electra has right side gear shifts, why they changed ordinary left side?

I have the plan to buy Royal Enfiels.. I have confused about 2 bikes(Electra,Thunderbird)… What is the difference between these bikes.. I wanted to know about milage… The Deeler Says Enfield give us more than 50kmpl… Any way Please Advice me what shall i buy whether Electra or Thunderbird… and the difference and milage also…

Ur dealer has gone mad… the average 100 cc bike hardly gives the mielage of 50 kmpl.
Go for thunderbird if ur willing for a more cruiser type feel.
Electra does give a mileage around 40 and i have experienced it first hand in heavy traffics of Hyderabad. One of my friends who owns a TBTS has also told me that his bike gives an average of 50 on highways.
I have compromised my mileage after changing my silencer. But the power has increased and the thump is awesome…
I have heard a few people complain abt things like cold start, engine noise etc. But once you start respecting and treating the machine for its qualities, these things become something that you wont even notice.
The prices in Mumbai are much higher. i just paid Rs. 1.16,000/- plus for a new electra twin spark about two months back. There are lots of initial problems during the run-in period. Hope fully RE engineers would put the bike in shape asap.

I have owned (04) four bullets since 1983 including this new purchase IN nOV. 2010. I chose to buy the RE Electra bike from Soniya at Bhandup, Mumbai. The sales man there is an absolute illiterate. He drove me up the wall for the documentation and the lies that he speaks are too much to handle. The showroom was in a pathetic state. The test bikes there were covered in dust, They would not start, there was no fuel in bikes!! wonder how they sell ??
Despite giving them a draft for full amount of the bike they took 50 days to deliver, the colour of choice was not delivered. During the first free service they damaged my silencer and they hid the fact and quietly delivered the bike. The clutch adjustments made were wrong, resulting in the clutch wearing off pre-maturely. The bike despite all adjustments ( now done 1900 kms) still stops middle of the road. The bike has a sway at the rear, the RE guys cud not detect and passed this off as an alignment problem and charged me for the same. For the allignment they sent the bike to an outside agency !!,when i persisted, they realised the tyres were defective and are now struggling to sort things out. it has been 20 days the tyre suppliers have not had the time to come and inspect the bike so that the tyres can be changed. The bike is standing in the garage. I am scared to ride the bike as this is a safety issue. I am waiting for them to give me conclusive reports ? I am now going to escalate this to the head office. May have to sue them, as the bike can not be used as it is unsafe to ride.
Please let me know, as updated by one of the Electra owner, is it giving back pain when long drive 4 to 5hrs drive?
I have driven it up to 580 Kms in a single day. I have not exeprianced back pain, there will be a bit of shoulder pain in the next day morning which is obvious for such a long drive.

I have also buy the electra 350-cc (Black Colour) on Nov-2010. I have paid Rs.110000/- (Including all Charges) from Dharamshala H.P…. I love to ride this bike… i have compromised with the average by replacing the silencer… but believe me friends it makes me so gud when i start the bike and listen to the sound of bike….I have ride so many bikes… But this is the BEST bike i have ever ride… i would like to call it “THE BEST INDIAN BIKE”…… if you want to live & feel the HEAVEN on the earth you must take a ride of this…. you will feel the difference….
But i have one suggestion for the company (it is not a complaint). i feel that the rear tyre must be more heavy or big.. because the bike is such so heavy and the tyres which are set up by company are slightly thicker in 350-cc bike……. it should be like i see the bike Bullet Classic mode they were so nice and attractive….
At last it is msg to all bike lovers if you want to fee the real riding feeling you must go with the Royal Enfieled ……..
I have bought Bullet Electra Twin Spark 350. It gives amazing milege about 40 to 45 kmpl. It provides better sitting and more balance on road as compared to other bikes it can reach speed upto 125 kmph on highway. It is a bike which gives u better look everybody will loop upon u when u riding it. Its amazing!
