Hero Honda Passion Pro Power Start
Print This Post
Passion Pro Power Start is the new avatar of the Passion Plus. Several years back, when Hero Honda was overwhelmed by the success of Splendor, they observed that the bike looks too simple for young men. Thus they introduced Passion which looked bigger and more stylish than the Splendor. Then came the Passion Plus with sticker upgrades and I would say that the look of it was quite good. Now the Passion Pro Power Start has showcased some new features and improvements with a facelift.
There is absolutely no improvement in performance because of the same old 98.2cc engine. But noticeable improvements include alloys, red colored springs for the shocks and black paint job for rear hand rails, leg guard, muffler, chain case and the engine.
New features include the self starter and pass switch. The console has the same old features. There is not even a trip meter let alone digital displays.
Hero Honda has introduced face lifts for Glamour too. I will post a review and photos of it as soon. To be frank, I am really bored to write this review because there is nothing exciting to talk about, my love for Hero Honda is fading away due to its lame strategy of stickering up their bikes. “Hero Honda, do something, do you copy?”

all the colours in this bike are similar to the old ones only with a different design.
there is also a different sound in starting the bike.
its smoother than the previous one.
its good for all types of roads but not for very long journeys.
its coast is similar to other bikes, what i mean is it has the same difference in cost as abike with self start and without self start has.
i will come up with more details in future

funny speed consoles , Boring design HH are cheating the people…
daksh on January 6, 2009 at 12:47 pm
yea funny speed consoles.. FUNNY GRAPHIC WORK!!
i think this “i dont look like a bike” is fit for the delivery boys of the city.. who need to deliver all kinds of packed and fast food around the city… will help conserve fuel atleast
M.Irfan on January 6, 2009 at 3:55 pm
Even though the bike is not so good looking but at least the upgrades are better than the CBZ Extremes. This is only for the old people ,between the age of 40-55 and I don’t think will ever appeal to the youngsters.I think Hero Honda’s design engineers are all crap..and very old fashion except for the guy who designed the Karizma.
Deepak on January 6, 2009 at 4:27 pm
Young people who cannot afford to spend on even 150cc+ bikes (cost of bike and mileage) usually go for Passion. I have seen many such people in my college. This is the best looking bike in the 100cc segment.
sankoobaba on January 6, 2009 at 4:43 pm
@deepak
i agree with you…
some people say ..among 100CC bikes this one looks “BIG” and yet is not heavy…and also looks better than other 100CC bikes…
and when you get HH reliability and 100CC fuel efficiency..then you know why this bike is quite popular..
i agree with @sai it is not so great for long journeys…
and also the design upgrades for this bike are better than those for CBZ-X…
and @M.Irfan i think karizma cud have been designed by japanese guys…maybe??
daksh on January 6, 2009 at 5:27 pm
lol.. talk about good looks deepak!!
Tell them to go for yamaha Crux instead.. haha
This face lift is a serious no no!
or instead, tell them to go for platina.. its a bit descent atleast..
infact i heard the arrival of platina DTS-i… but i think unlike the previous one, this one is 125.. and not 100
Indian Car Blog on January 7, 2009 at 8:01 am
The bike looks good but the instrument panel is horrible. I mean can’t Hero Honda design something better? Such a plain jane design. Look at Bajaj XCD, it has digital instrumentation.
sai on January 7, 2009 at 10:12 am
i will be buyin a bike after 3 months. what bike shall i buy? i prefer speed and i travel on highways
daksh on January 7, 2009 at 2:56 pm
well, as far as i know, XCD sucks, not only in terms of design.. but also in comparison with its closest competetors..
@Sai, dude,u need to elaborate a bit more as far as ur needs are concerned… speed and highway riding gives me an indication that u wud rather go for higher CC bikes..
suggesstions : R15 or Karizma ..
sai on January 8, 2009 at 2:32 am
yea even i thinking of r15 and karizma.but i am a fan of zma and hero honda showroom owner, as there will be new model of zma, shud i wait or buy zma or r15?
Deepak on January 8, 2009 at 3:34 am
Sai, I guess you should wait for 310cc Karizma Fi
sankoobaba on January 8, 2009 at 6:00 am
@Indian Car Blog
i agree XCD look good..but has small proportions…some people like big proportions without bike feeling heavy
@sai
you should give more of your requirements?
like
budget?
fuel efficiency?
performance?
brand preference?
daksh on January 8, 2009 at 7:22 am
one question.. what is ZMA?
secondly.. since ur gonna wait for like 3-4 more months.. its better that you dont decide just yet …
prolly, new bikes will roll out of the factory by the time u lay ur hands onto one.. just wait for the preimum bikes like the Karizma Fi and others
Deepak on January 8, 2009 at 7:46 am
Daksh, ZMA = Kari(ZMA) = Karizma
sai on January 8, 2009 at 8:00 am
hey i dont mind bt budget , fuel efficieny. i want style, speed and high cc. Hey as i am owner of a herohonda showroom i heard of new karizma that it will cum only after 1 year and not before that. And cumin to the brand i first prefer hh and yamaha and nxt bajaj. Is it true that there will a karizma of higher cc?? And i want u to tell me the right time of its release?
daksh on January 8, 2009 at 1:13 pm
oh lol.. thanks deepak..
xD
If u want “style” “R15″ is undoubtedly for you man.. i think its the best looking bike out of the lot.. though its tyres look hideous
omg, ur a showroom owner? where is it situated? some of us from the same city just might drop in
sankoobaba on January 9, 2009 at 5:40 am
@sai
you are owner of HH showroom right>??>
so you will get news of new karizma before us right??
or not??
anyway karizma is best choice if you are HH fan…
and it is a good bike anyway (an allrounder)
daksh on January 9, 2009 at 12:02 pm
yea i agree, the so called ,”ZMA” is a sporty as well as performance delivering bike..
its the flagship of the hero honda fleet man.. its the best “thing” that hero honda ever built.. and lets see if they improve it with Fi.. or destroy it with giving it a so called,”face lift” which they gave to the other bikes as well.
sankoobaba on January 12, 2009 at 5:17 am
i agree with @daksh…
last thing HH would want to do … is to make zma look unattractive by messing up with its design… instead they should look at functional upgrades….
nurul islam on January 15, 2009 at 7:21 am

vinod on January 15, 2009 at 10:20 am
hai guys , the passion pro is a number one bike,,,,, just kidding guys, its like a playing bike, in which small childrens will play in the childhood, this hero honda company is giving a feed back to all youths to childhood and even all uncles to childhood wah wah what a bike what a bike, playing bike , think twice before buying this types of bikes, better go to bajaj company its a good product from past 20 years it s in a good position, and maintaince free, money saved from a pocket, else, i prefer bajaj bikes thank u, better see the roads once, which company bikes a running popularly , even after twenty years too bajaj scooter s and bajaj autos , bajaj bikes are popular and still popular , but one thing to accept is until 2002 the hero honda splendar was good, now its a dummy piece, a broken glassssss ……. hamaaara bajaaaaaaj
daksh on January 15, 2009 at 12:18 pm
woo woo woo nurul .. take it easy lol..
w’re just disscussing
ofcourse passion has been one of those bikes which are sort of evergreen.. they’ve been sold through the history, and still selling in the present..
soo.. actuall speaking, it is sort of a good bike in its segment.. but then again, its just the facelift that actually messed everything up..
sankoobaba on January 16, 2009 at 12:58 am

apraga on February 2, 2009 at 7:36 am
hi Radhey Shyam Silver Black Colour in Passion Pro is available in market. But u should wait for atleast 40 days to deliver( too long time).. i have booked on jan 06 2009. but after 1 month the need 10 days extra to deliver. I think Passion (pro) is economic,Style,Maintanence free when compare to other 100cc Segmant bikes. Its not only my opinion. my mechanic also suggest me to bye Passion…..Cheers…

Total crap review. Done from outside view of bike. Bend below tank and u will see some thing near carburetor.Passion pro
has throttle controlled ignition system and Low end torque come at 4500 rpm. So more mileage. Dont misguide people doing wrong reviews. Its good bike than passion plus

Friends,
I am a 26 year old guy. I don’t know much about bikes. Even I am not that good in riding also. But I have decided to buy a bike (first one). Initially I thought of buying Splendor plus, but my friends told me to go for a bike with electric start. So after hearing about Passion pro, I thought I can go for it, as it has electric start. XCD 135 looks good, but many say Bajaj is not reliable. I am looking for around 60km mileage and below 50k cost. Good looks and maintenace free.I am really confused. Would going for Passion Pro would be a good idea ? Please suggest ! Thanks in advance guys !

Mikky_evilboy on April 30, 2009 at 11:17 pm
I agree with all of you.
But company only offers additional features only in those bikes in which there is some problem occurs in practical life.
Like for example in Glamour the repeatedly problem of Gear shifting in high speeds was listened by the company which was refined after in glamour FI the company added the additional features like Sensor controlled ignition system to wipe out the bad image created in the consumers about that bike.
Again listen about the bikes like old passion splender and CD deluxe we all know that those bikes were evergreen bikes there were no problems found in these bikes.
The main reason of introducing additional features is to create goodwill in the mind of consumers.
Pulsar to dekhi hi hogi only experts know that there is some balance problem in Pulsar.
Tell me how many pulsars are having there indicators in good position or not hanged.
Pulsar introduced the new models thats why.
Whenever you ride old Pulsar and new pulsar u’ll correctly know the change in balance.
These all are the strategy of all vehicle manufacturing companies.
If you are having any doubt on these lines.
Then only tell me this Question:
Ki kyu koi bhi bike jisme problem ho vo hi additional features ke saath dobara launch hoti hai?
Mikky_evilboy on April 30, 2009 at 11:22 pm

Mikky_evilboy on April 30, 2009 at 11:25 pm
Bro take passion pro if u need Long lasting Performance of a bike.
First thing is the engine the engine is as same as it was. nice sound
Good mileage above 60 after 2nd service.
Mikky_evilboy on April 30, 2009 at 11:41 pm
Brother Take Hero Honda CD deluxe or Bajaj platina(jhalak dikhla ja) Remember?
Cd deluxe is best in all type of performance.
Mikky_evilboy on April 30, 2009 at 11:44 pm
Daksh I’ll prefer you Hero Honda Bikes for Fuel saving and if you need Performance then i’ll prefer you Yamaha FZ or apache RTR Carburettor problem is not in Apache RTR.

Well well guys after all the critiscism about HH , I still see that thier bikes are more reliable and moreover hero honda bikes have a better re-sale value,( the only other bike wic I see is bajaj pulsar).. If anyone of u are plannin to go for a bike in the 100 cc or 125 cc (it really doesnt make muc diff) then I suggest you all to go for Passion Plus or Passion Pro.. advtgs – better fuel effeciency, good looks, cost efficient, and more reliable…

Hi
I bought this bike on 6-May-09… Drove 3000 Kms (I drive a lot within city traffic…) till today (29-Jun-09)…
Its a great bike.. i am getting a mileage of 65 kmpl after second service… I don’t have and cold start problems in morning… The power start is useful for city traffics.
Weight to driving ratio is good as well. well built quality.. Good re-sale value as it is a HH Bike.. Parts are cheaper as well. Think of all these before you go and purchase a new bike.
Cheers

Hi Jigar
Go with Passion Pro. Glamour is a bit wobbly after 5000+ kms. Body parts are not that firm like passion … Both are HH i agree. but passion pro is worth the money. You get only looks with Glamour. Again its my opinion. Check out both the bikes at your nearest showroom and make a decision. You got Disc option in Glamour and very shortly u will have Disc on Passion pro too
Cheers

Hi everyone,
I bought PassionPro a month ago.
Before buying this bike, i was confused with Honda Shine.
Then after hearing lots of feedback’s and comparison reviews, i selected this bike.
I write my review about this bike. so that it was helpful for others.
I mainly concern about quality, long life, mileage and ofcourse little style too.
This bike fulfills everything i concerned.
It has good style. Black alloy and Black Engine Gives a royale look.
Mileage is about 65kms.
It produces very low noise.
Powerful Headlight.
The only bad thing i’am irritated is ‘Cold-Start Problem’
My suggestion for buyers is
‘Its a standard bike for professionals’
You can go for it

Hi,
I am an owner of Bajaj Wind 125, wow what a bike it was. Bought 4-5 years ago. it has a pick up, even pulsar and others gets ashamed. It gave speed and thrill both. Only problem was fuel efficiency, because engine was a roaring monster. But babaj has a reputation of abandoning or upgrading models very fast. This is where i suffer, original spares are not available anywhere.
Now, I am looking to upgrade to another bike. As bajaj policy has left a bad taste, I am looking for hh bike. Aslo, now mine is a marketing job, therefore fuel efficiency is of utmost important. Therefore, should I go for passion pro.
Thanks!!

I had a boxer CT for seven years before switching to splendour. Many of them told me that HH is really good and engines are great. May be the new bajaj engines are not great but the one i had was really good. And for HH loyalists – when i wring the throttle after 50kmph, it just cries, wobbles, shouts, everything. And any bike would be good if driven at 35kmph. Its upto you if you want to buy a 100cc for 45-50 grand and finally driving at <40kmph at the end of the day.

I bought this bike 2 months back and drove nearly 2500kms in city as well as in outskirts..It is really a superb bike..
i checked the mileage by riding it between 40-60kmh..
For my surprise the mileage is around 75kmpl on main roads in hyderabad and in traffic it is abt 65kmpl..
It is also a smooth bike…as it doesn’t sound a bit even between 60-70kmh….
This bike suits for the people who want a better mileage, durablility, ordinary speeds, best resale,comfort..
For the people who need just speed, power…dont go for this bike.U people buy karizma,R15,FZ..and also doo buy a petrol bunk..why wasting ur time at gas stations….
Tushal on August 21, 2009 at 5:35 pm
For those of you who are looking for less than 125cc bikes. Try Star city which is really good. Or go for Discover 100 which seems to break records in economy. If you think no no for TVS and Bajaj then directly head towards HMSI to book your Shine or Yamaha for the Gladiator. Shine would be an ideal choice if you are planning for Passion. Just a couple of thousand bucks more. And you get a 125cc Honda product. Choice is yours.

if u dont bother abt these two things splendor plus is the best…
Sandesh Deshmukh on September 10, 2009 at 3:31 pm
I think overall, HH bikes are reliable. For XCD, look is not at all a question and also milage is good. But maintainance may be a troubling part. Passion pro is I feel a better choice.

I am pushkar joshi from pune . I have purchase HH Passion pro
month ago . At first it looed very fine, but soon the bike has started giving me starting problems , it refuses to start in morning. it also stops while riding in 4 th gear. Then soon i realised that the pick up of Passion pro is so POOR that old splender backs it on road. So I am now fully unsatisfied about the bike. it has Huge problems. So any one planning this bike think again
Buy HONDA UNICORN 150 cc Insted
tapos on November 11, 2009 at 9:07 pm
i like the bike very much bcoz i own this one for last two month.
i find this bike is very comfortable and sleek in design than other 100 cc bike.
one who wants great mileage good reliability good look can go for this.
it is a perfect bike for one who is going to ride for the first time also.
but one disadvantage is that its vibration level is slightly high when it run at above 62 kmph.
at first ride i have got a mileage of 63 kmpl.
if hh adds a front disk then it will be perfect in all respect…
afterall you can go for it.
venki on November 17, 2009 at 4:57 pm
I brought Passion pro in the month of August 2009. Piror to that I had CD 100 SS which was 15 years old and was giving me a mileage of 55-60 kms.
I dislike Passion pro because mielage is like 30-40 kms even after 2 services. When ask the Hero Honda service engineer, he says everything is fine. Also when you apply brakes this vehicle is not completely stable.
Hence, please think before you buy this bike.

Here many duffers have posted comments challenging Hero Honda Bikes. These stupids don’t know Hero Honda produces the largest no of bikes in the world. They don’t know how BAJAJ bikes produce unpleasant sounds after nearly 20000KM riding. They don’t know why do people have to wait for nearly 15-20 days and even 45 days after booking a Hero Honda Bike in a showroom due to heavy demand of these bikes.Bajaj bikes only show good mileage and the engine economy and maintenance is very bad. After 4 yrs u’ll count money for its maintenance.Compare a Pulsar 150 and CBZ Extreme.many must have observed how Pulsar bikes sound like old Rajdoot bikes unlike a much smoother sound in CBZ.None can challenge the engine performance and quality of Hero Honda…..

Could any one tell me which one is the good color for passion pro
naveen on December 12, 2009 at 6:56 am
I rode this bike for 6,800kms.
I heard many people saying that this bike looses stability, vibrates above 65-70ks and has poor pickup.
About stability and vibration -people try to understand we are talking abt a bike of capacity 100cc and which gives us nearly 65kmpl……and not about 150cc and above cadre bikes(they dont vibrate at 65-70’s but they also do).To resolve vibrating problem tell the service people to do their job accurately(tighten the parts effectively).i rode my bike at 85+ very frequently times….more than these speeds 100c bikes cant handle.when ever i tried to stop abruptly from that speed it skids a little MIND U it just skids a little……but doesnt get unstable…ask the service men to make ur bike gearup.
About pickup–really saying at times “faaalthuuuu”….
what i think is that this bike is getting little more milage than it should only for this reason..that is less pick up…yes it stops in 4th gear when we abruptly stop or slow down……perhaps this also can be solved….
apart from this this is a gooooooood bike…. enjoy riding

It has severe starting problem
————————————
I have been using Passion Pro for the last one year. Mine also have the starting trouble. Initial pick up is poor. When I throttle, bike will get off. So I will keep raising for some time before running. After running some distance it will become ok. I am getting a mileage of avg 60km. Now keeping at higher slow speed, I am maintaining my bike running. Once I tried reliance petrol, then the situation became more worst. Rest of it, its excellent. But this problem is critical. All the bikes of the same model have the same problem.

listn guys dont get confusd by mixing your thoughts. if u wanna gud pick up with and more cc u should not think about milage and if you are thinking on milage, dont choose the byk more then 110 cc.

Hi,
i have 5000km riding experiance with HH PASSION PRO, i feel its very good byke in 100cc segment which available in market… bcoz first of all i am getting 80km/L milage, ther is no vibration in riding on 90km/hr on highways…looking pretty…,and only problem is not sutable for long jurneys…
if we ride this bike more than 1hr surely we will tired and get some back pain or something like that…
thanks/Arif/:)

I am Sorry to say that i am getting only 40km/L milage.I don’t know what to do????????????????
rahul on February 26, 2010 at 7:07 pm
milind till 2nd service ull get only 50km/l and the mileage depends on how u ride i mean clutching many times may consume more petrol and u can ask the mechanic regarding it they hv some tuning for it i think

i hate design of passion pro.milege is low.i like design of discover and also milege and prise.
RAGU on March 5, 2010 at 4:34 pm
Hi everybody, I am Ragu.
I got the passion pro.
I am very proud of my bike, because it is more efficient and more stylish, and good millage and performance but not rough handling riders.
pandurang kokare on March 8, 2010 at 12:04 am
hi friends,i am pandurang kokare.i search all bikes but in 100cc discover is great because of the low price 5000 compare to pro.and it save more petrol and your money.suspension is better than pro.in future bajaj bike take good resale value.so go for discover and say mera bharat mahan.
