HMSI to Launch CBR150R in March at price of Rs. 1.15 Lakhs

by mahavir on February 21, 2012

Finally the wait for CBR150R is over now. According to news reported by Business Standard., HMSI (Honda Motor & Scooter India ltd) is all set to launch CBR150R in the next month.  HMSI is planning to launch CBR150R motorcycle at about Rs. 1,15,000 and it is aiming to sell around 3,500 units a month.  Earlier the company had showcased CBR150R at Auto Expo 2012 and announced that it will launch this motorcycle at price below Rs. 1,20,000.

Honda CBR150R is downsized version of CBR250R.  As far as design and other specification concern there is no such changes. However the big change is in department of Engine. The 150cc engine will generate maximum power of 18.5 bhp @ 10,500 rpm and maximum torque of 12.6 Nm@ 7,500 rpm which is considerably low compared to  25bhp and 23Nm of CBR250R. Apart from this nothing has been changed except the dimensions of bike (lenth x width x height).  The biggest advantage of engine downsizing is price and fuel efficiency. It is now cheaper by around Rs. 30,000 from CBR 250R and will have decent fuel efficiency.

HMSI has priced CBR150R very sensibly. It is cheaper by Rs. 2,500 compared to KTM Duke 200 and Rs. 8,000 dearer compared to face lifted version of Yamaha YZF R-15 V2.0. Honda aims to take on both of these motorcycle with the launch of CBR150R.  Currently, Yamaha YZF R15 V2.0 clocks around 3,000 units and KTM Duke’s delivery has not started yet. It seems that bike enthusiast will have more choice in Rs. 1 -1.2 lakhs segment as it is the segment which is growing at a rapid speed.

Do you think Honda CBR150R is perfect answer to KTM Duke 200 and Yamaha YZF R-15 V 2.0

As per the testing done in Thailand the fuel efficiency figures were 35 kmpl at 90 kmph speed.

Friends,
can anyone tell that
Is CBR150R having maximum power of 18.5 bhp @ 10,500 rpm more powerful than r15 v2.0 having maximum power of 17PS @ 8,500rpm?
Does rpm play important role in the power of a bike?

The CBR 150 will have more power at higher revs since it has a very short stroke and is highly over-square compare that with the R15 which has a technically square (but really a long stroke) engine and the result will be better top end performance on the honda. The R15 was also initially said to be sluggish by people who had been used to other bikes. To make the best out of the honda we will need to keep its engine constantly on the boil.

Come on
The basic engine between CBR 150 vs R15 is different
DOHC vs SOHC
come think more … not only see to the torque
CBR got Horse Power more higher than R15

CBR 150 R Deluxe version with Orange colored alloy wheels would be irresistible, just like in CBR125R.

@akash: rpm plays important role in power and torque..
The power and torque will have different magnitude at different rpms. The maximum is only quoted in specifications.
A bike wich has narrow deviation from the max power at the various rpm is the best..
