I live in Colombia, I have owned some Yamahas. Last week the R-15 arrived to my country. It is realy a nice bike. I wonder if somebody knows if it’s possible to put bigger tires in the same rhins. Thanks a lot to who can resolve this question.

the small tyres in r15 are for milage and better grip on roads. i suggest u not to change the tyre as it is said by the experts that with these tyres gripping is more good even on wet roads…..

No the perfomance of the bike will reduce. Yamaha has specially worked with MRF for r15 tyers. If you put a diff tyre the speed will reduce .

Hi Friends,

I am Vinay. I recently owned R15. The fact is that when Yamaha released R15 in the market I was in a great disappointment when I first saw the bike that the same has very lean tyres and actually a skinny version of R1.

But it happened on a fine Monday that luckily I got an opportunity to test drive the same for a distance of approximately 2 KM on a busy traffic route.

The instance I rode the bike believe me I was so impressed that I have bought the same with my credit card instantly and got the bike within one day.

The main feature that drove me to make that instant decision was the fact that many people think that only speed and pickup decide a bikes’ performance and forget about the stability, stopping mechanism and control over the bike at high speeds.

First of all, I am a great fan of super bikes.
I rode almost all bikes available in Indian market.
The first and big difference that R15 makes with other Indian
bikes( Including New Karizma, Pulsar 220 cc, New CBZ Extreme etc ) is the superb control at high speeds, deadly bike track/path precision on the road and the stability( Centre of gravity of the vehicle is so evenly poised that you never feel that the bike is out of control ).

Let me tell the fact about the R15 tyres, here I must admit that looks are rather deceptive indeed. They are so sticky to the road that even at high speeds you can tilt the bike at an angle ~ 30-150 degrees refered to the ground with no fear of losing the control.

The bike is so smooth that it just glides on the road.
The seating and handle bar position even though give an impression of sportiness infact they very comfortable for elderly people to ride in comfort.

I agree that the cost is high for a 150 CC bike. But please believe that YAMAHA has put in real costly metal which is strong, tough and light weight. The technology deployed on this bike is so awesome that no other bike can reach it except super bikes which are used exclusively for racing.

Coming to the leg guard, the bike has a mechanism that actually the riders’ legs are so poised or positioned on the bike that at an accident or a slip the bikes’ front dome which is made of tough fibre will take the beating saving the rider from injuries and at the first hand the bike has such a stability that even it can be stopped at 100 KMPH and + within 1 or 2 yards max.

Personally after riding the R15, I should admit that this is the ultimate warrior for atleast the coming 10 years on Indian roads especially.

Let me tell you an example. Even though a bike claims that it can hit 0-60 KMPH in 3-4 secs(approx) without proper control on the same will only pump your adrenaline more and make you constanly feel nervous and many bikers would infact aware of the same.

And this is where I personally believe R15 is the ultimate warrior and I would insist that its not only the speed and the pickup that gives a bike full circle but most significantly the stability and the control at high speeds.

The mileage is reasonably good 40 KMPL in City conditions and 45 KMPL in Highway conditions.

So, please test ride the bike and get the feel.

LOOKS ARE DECEPTIVE !!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you and all the very best in the context of your future riding.
