Is This The First Official Hint of Yezdi’s Return?

Yezdi launch in India can give Classic Legends a much bigger room to play in. Yezdi motorcycles can sit under the Jawa branded bikes…

Nostalgia is about to get stronger if this can be considered as the first official hint of Yezdi’s return! While Jawa is already here, making quite a stir in the market, the next could be Yezdi from Classic Legends.

Official Twitter handle which goes by the name of Yezdi Motorcycles (@Yezdiofficial) has been launched few days back. It only has one post for now but it has amassed almost 600 followers already. Here is the direct link.

Apart from that a similar profile @Yezdiofficials has also been launched on Instagram. It has six pics till now along with almost 900 followers. Aside all this, certain Jawa showrooms in the country have also commenced selling ‘Yezdi’ branded merchandise. Let us hope this is Mahindra’s/Classic Legends’ way of telling the people to get ready…

If you are unaware, during the 90s, Jawa and Yezdi branded motorcycles were a rage in the market. While Jawa sat in the more premium space, Yezdi was more entry-level without a lot of bells and whistles. Classic Legends, which is a Mahindra brand now, can play the same game today by offering Yezdi under Jawa motorcycles which are doing phenomenally well in the market.

Current Jawas start at over 1.50 Lakh and this entry point will get raised with Bharat Stage VI emission norms coming into play from April 2020. This is precisely when Classic Legends can bring in Yezdi – either stripped down versions of existing Jawas or better (kind of) new models reminiscent of the Roadkings and Classics, to play in the lower spectrum. This will give the brand an exhaustive range of motorcycles to better compete against the raging Royal Enfield and others.

Motorcycles under the other brand BSA are already in the works and should be out in the market in the months to come. However, as already clarified, BSA will make higher displacement models which will be developed keeping international markets in focus.
