Rumor: YEZDI to Debut With 3 Models; Cheaper Than JAWA

Yezdi launch rumored soon – fresh new speculative details have emerged. Will the models be based on the existing Jawas…?

Mahindra Group owned Classic Legends, which owns the rights of retro-classic brands Jawa and Yezdi, is back in the news. After successfully relaunching the Jawa brand, rumor has it that the company is planning to resurrect the Yezdi brand.

Yezdi has been one of the popular motorcycle makers in the country, back in its heydays during the 70s. As the market moved on to more modern motorcycles, the formerly Mysore-headquartered brand lost its sheen and soon faded away. However, it managed to retain its brand value and nostalgia among consumers.

Now, we hear that the Yezdi brand is all set to make a comeback as a rival to the Royal Enfields, Honda’s H’ness, and its own cousins from Jawa. According to rumors, Classic Legends is planning to launch as many as three new motorcycles in the Yezdi range, initially. If you recall, the company had done something very similar with the Jawa brand, as well, by launching the Jawa, Jawa Forty-Two, and Jawa Perak.

The rumor also suggests that the brand will be reintroduced sometime during the early 2021, and Classic Legends may announce the same, as soon as later this month!

It will be interesting to see how Classic Legends strategizes the new brand, as it has been evidently struggling to meet the demand for the Jawa motorcycles. The big possibility is that, like it was the case earlier, Yezdis are expected to be sold at cheaper prices than Jawas.
