Yamaha WR155 R Spotted Undisguised in India, Launch on Nov 11

The WR155 R dual-sport motorcycle is designed and developed to offer the best of both worlds: off-roading and long inter-city commuting

Yamaha has announced the launch of a new two-wheeler model on Nov 11, 2025 in the Indian market. However, it is not known yet which particular motorcycle or scooter it will be. Now, our friends at Rushlane have captured the WR155 R dual-sport motorcycle on camera without any camouflage in Bengaluru. Last month, Yamaha XSR155 was spied testing on the Indian roads for the first time. Hence, it is safe to assume that both the WR155 R and XSR155 could debut at the same event on Nov 11 in the domestic market in India.

Going by the spy images, it appears as if Yamaha WR155 R was spotted on its way to TVC shoot with a red-coloured temporary registration plate. It was wearing the same Yamaha Racing Blue paint scheme as the global-spec model. Needless to mention, Yamaha WR155 R is a well known motorcycle in other Asian markets such as Indonesia and Thailand as it serves both the purposes: city commuting as well as off-roading.

Sitting on a semi double-cradle frame, Yamaha WR155 R boasts of telescopic front forks and monoshock absorber at the rear with long suspension travel. It rides on 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear wheel which are shod with dual-purpose tyres. Staying true to its off-roading character, the WR155 R comes with a ground clearance of 245 mm while the saddle height is pegged at 880 mm.

The spy pics show the WR155 R in Racing Blue colour with ‘WR’ badging at the fuel tank. The rear profile is quite narrow with a sleek LED tail-lamp cluster and high mounted exhaust pipe. Tipping the weighing scale at 134 kg, it gets stopping power from hydraulic disc brakes at both the ends. The WR155 R has a fuel tank capacity of 8.1 litres.

Some of the notable features onboard the dual-purpose motorcycle include fully digital instrument cluster, self start and dual-channel ABS. At the heart, it has a 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which generates max power of 16.6 bhp at 10,000 rpm and highest torque of 14.3 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The engine is linked to a 6-speed transmission.

Yamaha WR155 R

Yamaha WR155 R will directly rival Hero Xpulse 210 and Kawasaki KLX 230 in the Indian market. Both these off-roaders are priced below the Rs 2 lakh mark and we expect the WR155 R to cost in the same ballpark. There are not many choices for the motorcycling aficionados in India in terms of dual-purpose bikes and hence, if Yamaha indeed launches the WR155 R in the country, it will mark a significant step in the brand’s journey in the domestic market.
