Like most motorcycle manufacturers Yamaha India has also segmented its 150cc stable into two categories, one premium which is taken care by the FZ siblings and the other – entry level segment where they have the SZ series of motorcycles.
During the launch of the new fuel injected FZ, the company management had talked about plans to update their existing line-up with Blue Core technology. Later they went on to update the Fazer with the same, and next in line appears to be the SZ-RR which is their commuter 150cc stallion.
And this brings us to this leaked info coming from MotorBeam.com which claims that the SZ-RR is all set to get the new Blue Core technology. Blue Core is a set of guidelines which improves the efficiency of an engine by reducing power losses, enhancing combustion etc. They say that SZ-RR will continue with the same 153cc engine but will come with enhanced fuel efficiency figures. Not much is expected to change on the specs front and its power output.
Current SZ-RR
The present version of the SZ-RR houses a carburetted 153cc SOHC mill in a slightly detuned state than the original FZ. It produces 12.1 PS of power at 7500 rpm and 12.8 Nm of power at 4500 rpm. The transmission is coordinated by a 5 speed constant mesh gearbox.
According to the pic shared, there will be a new lime green-black dual tone shade on the SZ-RR on offer. Also, there do not appear to be too many changes on the outside.
The new Yamaha SZ-RR with Blue Core technology can be expected to be launched officially in the next few days. On contacting a few local dealers in Delhi, we got to know that the new bike will reach dealerships in the next 3 to 4 days. Price can be expected to be slightly higher than the current version.
