Yamaha has issued a minor recall of the 321 cc YZF-R3 in USA which corresponds to a faulty upper triple clamp which, if not changed, may crack upon impact while riding.
This recall is for the 2015 models manufactured between 1st January 2015 to 31st August 2015 but surprisingly only affects 16 units in all!
According to NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), the official branch of Department of Transportation USA, the triple clamp if fractures, can result in loss of steering control and can eventually cause a crash which can be life threatening.
As a solution, Yamaha will notify all the affected customers and will replace the affected part with a new one free of cost.
India gets its R3 manufactured and imported from CKD kits from Yamaha Indonesia and there is no word on this for the models that are sold here. You can read our first ride review of the motorcycle from BIC.
