It will be available in three variants and five colour schemes as deliveries are slated to commence by mid-Sep 2026 across all Blue Square (BSQ) dealerships. Built on an all-new platform, the fully-faired sportsbike will directly rival KTM RC 200 and Hero Karizma XMR 210 in India. The R2 is Yamaha’s first offering in the highly competitive 200cc segment as it has been positioned above the R15 series of motorcycles in our country.
Yamaha R2 Colours and Variants
First things first, Yamaha R2 base variant will be available in Metallic Black and Dark Bluish Gray colours as it flaunts all-black front and rear wheels along with a matte-finished seat. The mid-spec grade gets Matte White Pearl and Racing Blue colour options. It also features body coloured alloy wheels, model-specific graphics, and premium material finishes.
The top-end R2M trim comes in an exclusive Metallic Gray colour with a premium 3D embossed emblem, a faux suede-finished seat, a silver-finished swingarm, and a shot-blasted muffler end cap. Most of the striking visual elements are inspired by the brand’s flagship motorcycle, which is the R1. On the other hand, the overall design takes cues from Yamaha’s latest global R-series motorcycles.

A special mention goes to the 5-inch full-colour TFT display and Smart Key System.

Yamaha R2 Engine
Sitting on a newly developed high-tensile steel tube diamond frame, Yamaha R2 is powered by a 204cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine which has been made and engineered in Japan in partnership with its Indian counterparts. It generates max power of 26.1 bhp and peak torque of 19.1 Nm. The R2 is the lightest motorcycle in its segment with an overall kerb weight of just 149 kg.
