A Yamaha R15M pic has leaked the upcoming motorcycle from the front. It comes with many premium features and a new face…
Just yesterday we got to know that Yamaha had registered the R15M moniker in India and today we have its first ever pic. This image you see on this page is reportedly taken from a dealer’s meet. Which suggests that the company has already showcased the motorcycle to its dealer partners and it is absolutely ready.
Now coming to the differences – the R15M is adopting a new design philosophy that takes inspiration from the R7. It has a single projector at the center instead of dual lamps of the current version. In place are twin DRLs that look really good.
Also, the motorcycle comes with golden colored upside down front forks for the first time ever. The only thing that does not go well is the clutter of stickers. I also think that this picture hasn’t been taken from a good angle and clearer images will reveal the upcoming sportster better.
The R15M, according to the type approval documents, will churn 18.35 PS of peak power at 10,000 rpm. This is short of the current R15 by 0.25 PS – reasons unknown! Reports suggest that the R15M also carries a new instrument cluster which has Bluetooth connectivity – a feature that Yamaha has already promised earlier.
Basically, it appears that the Jap wants to introduce a new R15 and it believes that offering a premium variant first in India, at a higher price, will give them a good platform. This styling, then, will definitely go to the regular model as well.
For international markets, which sell the R15 – this could be the next update (and there may not be a premium variant since they already sell the motorcycle with better features).
