Yamaha India has a major press conference and a ride scheduled at the Buddh International Circuit on August 11th and the company is expected to launch a highly anticipated new ‘R’ based motorcycle. While they have not officially announced that it will be the R3 but chances of it are higher than R25. In fact a few dealerships we spoke to are confident that it is the R3!
An interesting article at Autocar Professional claims that dealerships in Pune have already started taking bookings of the bike! Following this, we connected with a few in Delhi and none of them is willing to take any booking of any sorts! This probably means dealerships, whichever are taking bookings, are unofficial.
The R3 will be brought to India as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit and is expected to be assembled at their Greater Noida plant. The bike sports a twin cylinder 321 cc motor producing 42 PS of maximum power and 29.8 Nm of peak torque. Now that’s just 1.5 PS less than the current champion KTM RC390, but more importantly, a cylinder more! Pricing is expected to be a wee bit lesser than our favorite Ninja 300.
The report further adds that Yamaha dealerships are charging Rs 10,000 as the booking amount. Do let us know if you have booked one along with the city….
