Vinfast Rasad Electric Maxi-Scooter Design Patent Filed in India

The Rasad based e-scooter is likely to have its world premiere in the last quarter of CY 2026 as it will also go on sale in India

Recently, Vinfast filed design patents of the Viper electric scooter and Sulad concept-based electric motorcycle in our country. Now, it has patented the design of yet another electric scooter, which is said to be based on the Rasad concept, unveiled earlier this year. Vinfast Rasad e-scooter is likely to have its world premiere in the last quarter of CY 2026. Hence, the filing of design patent in India ahead of the global debut indicates that it will also be launched in the Indian market within this year.

Vinfast will start selling electric two-wheelers through the CKD (completely knocked down) route in India as local assembly will take place at the brand’s factory in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin), Tamil Nadu. The Rasad concept-based premium maxi-scooter could create a new sub-category in the electric two-wheeler segment as till now the maxi-scooters are only available in the ICE segment.

Some of the striking design elements in Vinfast Rasad maxi-scooter concept include polygonal LED headlamp housing, large windscreen, signature DRLs, 14-inch front wheel and wider handlebar. It also gets a rectangle-shaped digital instrument cluster which could be equipped with Bluetooth Smartphone connectivity and Turn-by-turn navigation. The Rasad electric scooter features a stepped seat with adequate padding for the rider and pillion.

The Rasad concept-based maxi electric scooter will use telescopic front forks and twin-shock rear suspension as standard. The braking duties will be performed by disc units at front as well as rear. Sitting on an underbone chassis, identical to Yamaha Aerox and Honda ADV160, it will be rolled out with a wider rear tyre for better grip on the slippery surfaces.

The technical specs have not been released yet, but we believe the e-scooter to be powered by a 7.1 kW electric motor which will be mounted in the centre of the body to ensure optimum performance. The range figures are not in public domain as of now. However, it will be capable of clocking a top speed of 100 kmph, as reported by several sections of media in Vietnam.

Vinfast is also said to be developing purpose-built India-specific electric scooters. A few months back, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government of Tamil Nadu to acquire around 200 hectares of land at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Thoothukudi to expand the existing production plant for the local manufacturing of electric scooters.
