The Iowa based Victory Motorcycles, owned by Polaris Industries, is going to enter the Indian two-wheeler industry. There has been no official announcement, but in an exclusive interview to BikeAdvice, Mr Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director, Polaris India told us that they are going to introduce Victory Motorcycles to India, although he did not reveal any time line.
Victory would be the second American motorcycle brand to be brought to India by Polaris, after the launch of the iconic Indian Motorcycles in January 2014.
Victory was launched in 1998 to counter the market dominance by Harley Davidson. It sells V twin engined motorcycles in touring, sports touring and cruiser categories. The main differentiation between Victory and Indians is that while Indian Motorcycles boasts of a rich history and tradition, dating back to 1901, Victory Motorcycles incorporates a lot of modern hues, latest technological and design concepts. The Indian Motorcycles have a part which were developed right during its initiation days and continues to find its place in the 2013-14 line-up.
Mr Pankaj tells us that the Victory brand has won a lot of recognition. It has won JD Power North America’s Best Quality Motorcycle Award for 10 consecutive years apart from many other accolades. The bikes will be brought as a Completely Built Units (CBU).
On the pricing front, Pankaj tells us that there will be models which will be priced under Indian Motorcycles and expect the lineup to start from somewhere around Rs 20 Lakhs all the way uptill 33Lakhs. In comparison, Indian Motorcycles range starts around 26 lakhs.
Polaris had displayed a few of their models during the 2012 Auto Expo, all of which were sold off to private buyers. So, India has already got a taste of Victory! Though they have not set up any timeline for an official launch, we expect to hear an official timeline sometime later this year or early next year.

The American price range starts from $12,499 (Rs 7.46 lakhs) to $29,999 (Rs 17.9 lakhs).
