Upcoming Triumph 400 models may include a cafe racer kind of motorcycle, custom cruiser and some other formats. But two within this year is, well, interesting…
Rajiv Bajaj, MD of Bajaj Auto – the maker which is taking care of Triumph’s Indian operations, has already said that there will be more motorcycles that will be launched in the Triumph’s 400 portfolio. As far as I remember, he talked about one that will be this year’s launch candidate.
An interesting story, labeled as ‘Exclusive’ has come up at CNBC TV18, that claims that not one but Bajaj will launch two Triumph 400cc motorcycles. By October, Bajaj will have a capacity to manufacture 10,000 Triumphs in India and these two motorcycles – which will have new designs and price points, will help the company to reach its target of 10,000 unit sales per month. The portal has credited its ‘sources’ for this info.
One of the motorcycle models that had been snapped testing is the fairing based motorcycle based on Speed 400. This motorcycle, which is likely to be called as Thruxton 400, looks like a definite launch prospect for this year. The cafe racing kind of model will help target more buyers who are somehow avoiding the Speed 400 because of the relative lack of bulk in the roadster.
10,000 Off on Speed & Scrambler 400 on 1st Anniversary; Offer Extended
With an old-school bubble-like fairing and low-set handlebar, the Thruxton will be sportier as well. I am expecting a placement between the existing Speed and Scrambler models – which means the Thruxton could cost around Rs 2.50 Lakh ex-showroom.
Will there be another model for this year, as claimed, is not known and no other product has been snapped testing for now. Two new models also look an overkill and hence, I would suggest you to consider this as a rumor only for now, until we have some concrete info emanating out of somewhere.
