Just a few days back we had reported that Bajaj is working on a new motorcycle in the Platina range. The entry level motorcycle might have been ignored by Bajaj for a long time now, but has been recording some good sales of late. So Bajaj is planning to do what it does best, update a bike to snatch some sales from the competition.
The sightings of upcoming Bajaj motorcycles have been limited to 200SS/400SS and Pulsar 150NS. And for the first time, we have spy pics of a camouflaged (and an uncamouflaged) new Platina mule courtesy Gaadi.com.
There are two interesting bits we notice here. One, even the camouflaged Platina mule looks identical to the current version on sale. And two, if the non-camo is also a mule, Bajaj may be testing a new engine or some mechanical parts on these motorcycles.
Currently, new Platina is powered by a 99.27 cc engine which produces 8.2PS of power at 7,500 rpm and 8.05 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. Yes, being a bare bones 100cc commuter, expecting a lot from the motorcycle is pure injustice but some tweaks for performance and fuel efficiency and a wee bit of refinement won’t hurt.
Their is also a possibility that Bajaj may be benchmarking something (most probably the engine bits) new against its existing Platina.
Apart from this new Platina and the motorcycles we have mentioned above, Bajaj also has a new 125cc Discover lined up for launch. What new alphabet will it come suffixed with is the only question now 😀 .
