Upcoming Kinetic Electric Scooter Design Leaked – Details

Kinetic Green is planning to introduce a high-speed electric scooter based on the vintage KiHo DX in the Indian market, revealed the leaked design patent.

Kinetic Green, the electric two-wheeler brand led by Sulajja Firodia Motwani, has filed a design patent for a new electric scooter in the Indian market. The leaked images reveal that the upcoming Kinetic electric scooter will be identical to the iconic 2-stroke Kinetic Honda DX scooter, which was sold in the country between the 80s-90s. Presently, the company retails three models in the e2w segment namely E-Zulu, Zing and E Luna. In particular, Kinetic E-Luna is priced between Rs 69,990-82,490 (ex-showroom).

The leaked images of the design patent confirms that Kinetic Green is all set to revive the original DX scooter, identical to the E-Luna. It has been learnt that the upcoming Kinetic e-scooter will be its most premium and expensive model till date in the Indian market. Kinetic DX will rival Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Ola S1 and Ather Rizta in the country.

The leaked patent shows that the upcoming electric scooter from Kinetic will have a boxy design with angular lines and a rectangle-shaped headlight upfront. It also flaunts a small flyscreen on top of the headlight with ‘Kinetic’ lettering. All these styling elements have been directly lifted from the original DX scooter, which used to rule the roost in the 80s and 90s.

However, the original KiHo DX had one peculiar feature in the form of a spare wheel mounted on the back of the scooter and the same is missing in the leaked design patent, indicating that it won’t be carried over in the resurrected version. Some other notable details in the design patent are a telescopic front suspension, 12-inch alloy wheels and front disc brake. For those asking, Kinetic Honda (KiHo) DX used to feature a trailing link front suspension.

Besides filing the design patent, Kinetic Green has also trademarked ‘Zwag’ moniker in the country. It is currently not confirmed whether it will be used for the upcoming electric scooter based on the KiHo DX or if it will be an all-new model altogether. We can expect more clarity on the same in the coming few months.

Though technical specs of the upcoming Kinetic electric scooter remain under wraps, we can expect it to have a top speed of at least 70-80 kmph. The current models in Kinetic Green’s portfolio in India come with a relatively lower top speed of around 50 kmph. Also, since it is based on the 2-stroke KiHo DX, which used to be more zippy than the 4-stroke Activa, it is likely to be a high speed electric scooter.
