Being one of the fastest growing and possibly the most interesting segments in the Indian motorcycle industry, the 150-160 cc territory has players from all the major manufacturers, each trying to outdo the other. The category can be roughly divided in to three main sub categories – the performance oriented 150s which includes the likes of Yamaha R15 and Honda CBR 150R, another being the commuter centric 150 or entry level segment which includes the Discover 150, SZ series etc and last but not the least, the premium 150 cc territory.

This is what we are going to talk about right now. Coupling an optimum between fuel efficiency and performance the bikes in this segment have been curated to make you smile more often, both at the streets and petrol pump.

The FZ Version 2.0 with its fuel injected Blue core engine has been priced at Rs 76,250 while the FZ-S Version 2.0 has been priced at Rs 78,250. This is a pretty high price tag for a motorcycle of this genre, but we should not forget that it comes with fuel injection, the only motorcycle in this list!

In October, Gixxer single-handedly equaled the combined score of the Hero’s complete 150 cc battalion. With a catchy price tag of Rs 72,199, the Gixxer surely is a great product to consider.

TVS Apache RTR 160 has a price tag of Rs 68,590. The bike has not been updated for a long time but is still a popular choice and is scoring some good numbers.

The reigning champ of the 150 cc segment though is the Pulsar 150. The bike has an update lined up as a Naked Sport variant. Till then though you will have to suffice yourself with the regular version which has a sticker price of Rs 68,180 making it the cheapest of the lot.

Suzuki Gixxer

The newly launched Honda CB Unicorn 160, claims to have a great fuel efficiency figure of 62 kmpl and an equally great torque figure of 14.61 Nm the bike can be yours for a starting price tag of Rs 69,350 for the standard variant and Rs 74,414 for the CBS variant.
