After months of speculation, United Motorcycles, at Facebook, has confirmed that their flagship Renegade Commando, which is the most interesting product in the portfolio, will be launched in India in two variants! As has been confirmed earlier by UM, they will begin their innings at the upcoming Auto Expo with the launch of the new Renegades on 3rd or 4th of February 2016.
Debuting at the 2014 Auto Expo for the first time, the US based motorcycle manufacturer later announced that they will produce motorcycles in India in collaboration with Lohia Auto at their Kashipur plant. The joint venture is expected to launch three motorcycles in the first go.
Back at the EICMA in November, they showcased Renegade Sport S, a real eye-candy which, we pray, turns out to be the the other model for India. The Sport S featured a 279 cc single cylinder mill producing 26.6 PS of peak power and 22.76 Nm of max torque. The cruiser styling seems inspired from the Suzuki Intruder and it appeared packed well.
UM, at the Auto Expo 2014, kept on display the Renegade Commando which created a lot of interest. The 2014 model was powered by a 223 cc engine however, recent developments have suggested that the the final version for our market will get an India-specific engine, possibly bigger than this.
