The Jan 2026 sales was dominated by legacy brands such as Hero, Honda, TVS, Bajaj, Royal Enfield, Suzuki and Yamaha
The Indian two-wheeler industry posted positive YoY growth of around 21 percent in January 2026 as a total of 18,52,270 units were sold. The overall sales stood at 15,33,356 units in January 2025. The MoM performance was even better with growth of nearly 41 percent as 12,16,891 units were retailed in December 2025. This success story was spearheaded by several renowned legacy brands such as Hero, Honda, TVS, Bajaj, Royal Enfield and Suzuki. Apart from Ola Electric, every major two-wheeler brand registered YoY growth.
Starting with Hero MotoCorp, the world’s biggest two-wheeler brand, it sold 4,92,167 units in Jan 2026. The YoY growth stood at 19.59 percent as 4,11,529 units were sold in Jan 2025. It had a market share of 26.56 percent last month. Honda occupied the second position with sales of 4,72,938 units in Jan 2026 and YoY growth of 26.29 percent as it had retailed 3,74,474 units in Jan 2025.

TVS Motor Company continued to be at the third spot with 3,64,241 units sold last month as compared to 2,88,742 units in Jan 2025. The brand reported YoY growth of 26.15 percent while the market share was close to 20 percent. Bajaj secured the fourth position with sales of 1,95,752 units in Jan 2026 against 1,74,414 units during the same month last year with a YoY growth of 12.23 percent.

The fifth spot was retained by Royal Enfield with sales of 1,06,398 units last month against 82,057 units in Jan 2025. The YoY growth stood at 29.66 percent. The sixth and seventh positions were held by Suzuki and Yamaha, respectively, with sales of 98,899 units and 64,399 units. Both the brands posted a strong YoY growth due to heavy demand for newly launched models.
Ather Energy and Ola Electric bagged the eighth and ninth spots with sales of 21,999 units and 7,516 units, respectively. While the former recorded a massive YoY growth of 67.97 percent, the latter’s fortune didn’t show any signs of improvement with YoY de-growth of 69.21 percent. The Bhavish Aggarwal-led e2w brand used to dominate the industry like no one, but sales started deteriorating after a flurry of customer complaints regarding poor quality of e-scooters.

The tenth and eventual spot in the list was filled by Greaves Cotton Limited which retails electric scooters under ‘Ampere’ branding. It sold 5,337 units in Jan 2026 with a YoY growth of 47.72 percent as 3,613 units were sold in Jan 2025.
