Two-Wheeler Sales in Sep 2025 Reach New High, Hero Dominates

The two-wheeler market touched new heights of glory in Sep 2025 as almost every leading brand recorded growth in sales, except Honda

The two-wheeler industry witnessed a YoY growth of 7.8 percent in Sep 2025 as a total of 24.58 lakh units were sold by leading brands as compared to 22.79 lakh units retailed during the same month last year. Hero MotoCorp continued as the leading two-wheeler brand with total sales exceeding 6.87 lakh units last month while the market share stood close to 28 percent in the two-wheeler segment. Barring Honda, every other brand such as Hero, TVS, Bajaj and Royal Enfield registered YoY growth in Sep 2025.

Hero sold 50k units more last month than it had sold in Sep 2024 (6.37 lakh) due to the high festive season demand and recent cut in GST on motorcycles and scooters with engine capacity below. However, Honda was the only brand to record a YoY de-growth of 2.65 percent as the overall sales, including domestic market and exports, plummeted to 5.68 lakh in Sep 2025 against 5.83 lakh during the same month last year.

TVS Motor Company did remarkably well and posted sales volume of approx 5.24 lakh units in Sep 2025. It witnessed a YoY sales growth of 11 percent as the numbers stood at 4.72 lakh in Sep 2024. It captured a market share of 21.31 percent which was just 2 percent less than Honda’s 23.11 percent. The new product launches during the festive season steered TVS growth story last month.

The fourth position was occupied by yet another home-grown brand Bajaj Auto with sales of 4.31 lakh units as compared to 4 lakh units sold during the same period last year. The Pune-based brand had a YoY sales growth of 7.58 percent while the market share was at 17.53 percent. The company sold 30k more units last month than it had retailed in Sep 2024.

Royal Enfield, the leader of the middleweight (350cc) motorcycle segment, broke all monthly sales records in Sep 2025 by selling more than 1.24 lakh units. With this highest ever monthly sales, it witnessed a massive YoY growth of 42.94 percent as the brand had managed to retail only 86,978 units in Sep 2024. It is quite evident that the recent cut in GST rates hugely benefitted the company’s 350cc portfolio.

Last but not the least, Suzuki too performed decently with numbers of more than 1.23 lakh in Sep 2025 as compared to 99,255 units sold in the same month last year. The YoY growth stood at 24.48 percent while the market share was at 5.03 percent behind Royal Enfield’s 5.06 percent. In all, Sep 2025 can be termed as one of the best months in terms of sales for the two-wheeler brands in the Indian market.
