Honda continued as the numero-uno two-wheeler brand in the domestic market followed by Hero, TVS and Bajaj in August 2026 sales
The Indian two-wheeler industry witnessed a decent 19.7 percent YoY growth in August 2026 as domestic retail volumes crossed 17.14 lakh units as compared to 14.33 lakh units in August 2025, as per the data shared with us by Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). Honda continued to be India’s leading two-wheeler brand for the second consecutive month by pushing Hero to second spot. On the other hand, TVS Motor Company kept growing at an unprecedented pace with a market share close to 20 percent in the overall two-wheeler segment.
Honda continued to be at the topmost position with over 4.47 lakh units in Aug 2026 with a double-digit YoY growth of 20 percent. The company had retailed more than 3.72 lakh units during the same month last year. Hero maintained the second position with sales touching nearly 4.14 lakh units last month as compared to 3.49 lakh units in Aug 2025 with decent YoY growth of 18.6 percent.
TVS Motor Company’s growth saga continued as the YoY sales surged by 25.3 percent, which is the highest among the leading legacy brands. It sold more than 3.53 lakh units last month against 2.82 lakh units in August 2025. Bajaj Auto, retaining the fourth position, posted retail volumes of 1.57 lakh units in Aug 2026 with a YoY growth of 15.3 percent as compared to 1.36 lakh units in Aug 2025.

Suzuki, securing the fifth position, was the only brand other than the top 4 automakers to retail more than 1 lakh units in the domestic market in Aug 2026. Though the YoY growth remained in single digit. Royal Enfield was at sixth position with sales of more than 94,000 units last month with a YoY growth of 23.5 percent against 76,505 units in Aug 2025.
Yamaha’s sales increased from 55,172 units in Aug 2025 to 62,375 units in Aug 2026 with YoY growth of 13.1 percent. It was followed by Ather Energy with a sensational YoY growth of almost 50 percent as the pure EV brand retailed 28,757 units last month as compared to 19,210 units in Aug 2025. Ola Electric was the only brand to record a decline in YoY numbers (28.8 percent) as sales dipped to 13,852 units in Aug 2026 from 19,464 units in Aug 2025.

Greaves Electric Mobility (Ampere), River Mobility, and BGauss Auto, the all-electric brands, posted strong YoY growth of 89 percent, 170 percent and 180 percent, respectively, in Aug 2026. Classic Legends, which retails Jawa, Yezdi and BSA motorcycles in India, also registered a healthy YoY growth of 61 percent. Last but not the least, Piaggio sold 3,595 two-wheelers in Aug 2026 with a YoY growth of 24 percent against 2,900 units in Aug 2026.
