TVS Tyres for Dominar & other motorcycles will broaden the number of options for motorcyclists…
The bigger KTMs in India have always sported the lovely Metzelers whereas the smaller, less powerful ones have sported MRFs as Original Equipment (OE). The new Dominar 400 carries the same tyre spec as the KTMs but it comes equipped with MRF C1 and FC1 tyres. Often KTM bikers switch to MRF tyres, which we tested recently, mainly because of cost reasons and are always on a look out for more options.
Among the prominent Indian manufacturers you will see TVS tyres joining the bandwagon soon. TVS tyres conducted a basic know-how session and informed us about the development. This means that soon they will be launching two new SKUs (Stock Keeping Units) as per the following specifications…
- 150/60 17 for the rear
- 110/70 17 for the front
In all probability these will be soft compound radial tyres and considering their current pricing standards, they can be expected to cost around the same ballpark of the current MRFs. Launch is expected to take place by January-February 2018.
Only once we ride them we will be able to comment on their quality and grip (and probably a comparison with MRF C1s) but considering the Remoras we tested on the Apache 200 we are keeping our expectations high. These tyres will also fit other motorcycles – current and upcoming, which (will) use the same spec/size.
