TVS Beats Ola to Become Number One Electric Scooter Brand in Apr 2025

TVS Motor Company took the pole position in Apr 2025 with sales of 19,736 units after beating Ola Electric narrowly by just 27 units.

TVS Motor Company has pipped Ola Electric to become the number one electric scooter brand in April 2025 in the Indian market. The third spot was occupied by Bajaj Auto in this tight contest. Only 27 units separated TVS and Ola with sales numbers standing at 19,736 and 19,709, respectively, for each brand in April 2025. Bajaj too was not much behind as it sold 19,001 units last month in the domestic market. The fourth and fifth positions were claimed by Ather Energy and Hero Vida with sales of 13,167 and 6,126 units, respectively.

It is for the first time that TVS has climbed the ladder all the way and achieved the top-most position in electric two-wheeler sales in India. Before April 2025, Bajaj had topped the sales charts for two consecutive months namely February & March 2025. As for Ola Electric, it had last topped the segment in January 2025. However, in the first month of FY 25-26, it is TVS which has claimed this position due to overwhelming demand for the iQube electric scooter.

Brand Sales Numbers in Apr 2025
TVS Motor Company 19,736
Ola Electric 19,709
Bajaj Auto 19,001
Ather Energy 13,167
Hero Vida 6,126

The electric two-wheeler segment as a whole registered its highest-ever sales in April 2025 with 91,791 units being retailed against the 65,555 units sold during the same month last year. It recorded a YoY sales growth of 40 percent. On the other hand, TVS witnessed a massive YoY growth of 154 percent while Bajaj too had a YoY growth of 151 percent. All these sales numbers and data has been taken from Vahan portal.

TVS iQube had a market share of 12 percent in Apr 2024 which has gone up to 22 percent in Apr 2025. The company had sold only 7762 units during the same month last year. As per Vahan data, it retailed 1534 units of the iQube in a single day on April 30, which was the day of Akshaya Tritiya festival, considered auspicious for buying vehicles in Hindu religion. Just so you know, it is the highest single day sales for any electric two-wheeler brand on Akshaya Tritiya.

Ola Electric, taking the second position, had a market share of 21 percent in Apr 2025, which came down heavily from 52 percent in Apr 2024. For reference, the Bengaluru-based EV startup had phenomenal sales numbers of 34,163 during the same month last year. We expect Ola to bounce back in the coming months and reclaim the top position, banking on the strong demand for S1 range of e-scooters.

Bajaj Auto, after topping the charts in Feb & Mar, came down to third position with sales numbers dipping under 20k units for the first time in the last three months. It is likely that sales numbers went down as people were waiting for the most affordable Chetak 3503 which was launched earlier this week on Apr 28. The Pune-based two-wheeler brand had its best sales in March 2025 with 35,160 units.
