The all-new cafe-racer model will be fifth model in Triumph’s 400cc portfolio as it goes on sale from Aug 6, 2025 in the Indian market.
Triumph India has officially announced the launch of Thruxton 400 on Aug 6, 2025 in the domestic market. The company released a teaser video on its social media channels earlier today with the cafe racer model’s front cowl and handlebar. It was spotted undisguised in production-ready form recently during the TVC shoot near Pune, indicating that a launch is imminent. Triumph Thruxton 400 will be the fifth 400cc offering from the British brand in the Indian market after the Speed 400, Scrambler 400X, Speed T4 and Scrambler 400 XC.
The spied model was flaunting a red paint scheme with silver stripes on the front fairing and fuel tank. The Triumph badging was present at the teardrop shaped fuel tank. The overall styling of the neo-retro cafe-racer was inspired from its elder sibling, the Speed Triple 1200 RR. The tail-light section also appeared to be quite simplistic and not-seen-before on any Triumph motorcycle.

The spy-images revealed that the pillion seat can also be installed in place of the rear cowl which is also offered in red and silver combination. We could also spot a rear grab rail in the spy-shots. The cafe-racer will get the Speed 400’s semi-digital instrument cluster. Though we are already calling it the ‘Thruxton 400’, Triumph has not announced an official name of the upcoming cafe-racer motorcycle yet.
At the heart, it will have the same 398cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine as the other middleweight motorcycles in the Triumph portfolio. This engine is capable of returning top power of 40 bhp and highest torque of 37.5 Nm while coupled with a 6-speed gearbox. Rest of the components including the brakes, suspension and chassis will be shared with the 400cc bikes.

Some of the notable features onboard the cafe-racer model will include dual-channel ABS, multiple ride modes, clip-on handlebar, USD front suspension and 17-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli/MRF tyres. Triumph Thruxton 400 will have no direct rival in the Indian market as the closest model is Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 which is priced between Rs 3.19-3.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
Triumph Thruxton 400 price will hold the key to its success. The British brand has been quite aggressive with the pricing as the Speed T4 starts from Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom) only. We believe the Thruxton 400 could come in a price bracket of Rs 2.30-2.50 lakh (ex-showroom) which will position it between the Speed T4 and Speed 400.
