The list of top 10 two-wheeler models in May 2026 had 5 bikes, 4 scooters and 1 moped from the leading auto brands in the country
The country’s top 10 two-wheelers clocked combined sales of more than 12.89 lakh units in May 2026 as compared to 11.77 lakh units sold during the same month last year with a YoY growth of 7.8 percent. While Hero Splendor continued to dominate the motorcycle segment, Honda Activa retained its position as the highest-selling scooter model. TVS iQube maintained its position as India’s best-selling electric two-wheeler in May 2026.
Hero Splendor held on to the pole position with sales of 3.48 lakh units in May 2026 against 3.10 lakh units in May 2025. The sales grew by 12.2 percent on a YoY basis as it commanded a healthy market share of 27.4 percent in India’s two-wheeler industry. Recently, Hero MotoCorp launched the flex fuel version of the Splendor+ which can run on E85 petrol.
Honda Activa occupied the second position with sales of 1.55 lakh in May 2026 as compared to 1.91 lakh units sold during the same period last year. The scooter recorded a decent YoY growth of 20 percent while having a market share of 18 percent in the two-wheeler segment. Hero Splendor and Honda Activa have been the numero-uno models in the motorcycle and scooter segments, respectively, for the last several years.

The third position was secured by Honda Shine, albeit with slight de-growth of 1.8 percent. The brand sold 1.55 lakh units of the motorcycle last month in the Indian market as compared to 1.58 lakh units retailed in May 2025. The Shine 125 is the highest-selling 125cc motorcycle in the Indian market as it rivals Bajaj Pulsar 125, Hero Splendor and many others.
TVS Jupiter bagged the fourth spot with YoY growth of 27.8 percent as sales rose from 97,606 units in May 2025 to 1.25 lakh units in May 2026. Bajaj Pulsar was at the fifth position with sales of 1.24 lakh units in May 2026 against 1.22 lakh units in May 2025 with a YoY growth of 1.7 percent. Suzuki Access captured the sixth position as the May 2026 sales were more or less identical to May 2025 volumes.

Hero HF Deluxe was the only model in the list to post a massive decline in YoY sales (38 percent) as sales fell from 1.08 lakh units in May 2025 to 66,722 units in May 2026. The eighth, ninth and tenth positions were reserved for Apache, XL and iQube – all three TVS two-wheelers – with sales of 53,900 units, 48,569 units, and 42,192 units, respectively, in May 2026.
