Bajaj Chetak was the only EV in the list of the top 10 two-wheelers with a staggering YoY growth of 272.8 percent in Aug 2026
The cummulative sales of top 10 two-wheelers in Aug 2026 stood at 13.28 lakh units with a YoY growth of 8.4 percent. The top 10 two-wheeler models in India registered retails volumes of 12.25 lakh units during the same month last year. Most of the motorcycles, scooters and EVs in the list posted YoY growth, except for Bajaj Pulsar and Hero HF Deluxe. Bajaj Chetak EV made it to the list as the highest-selling electric two-wheeler in Aug 2026 by racing past TVS iQube which has been occupying the topmost position for the several last months.
First things first, Hero Splendor continued as India’s best-selling two-wheeler as volumes surged from 3,11,698 units in Aug 2025 to 3,53,842 units in Aug 2026 with a YoY growth of around 13.5 percent. Honda Activa secured the second position with sales volumes touching 2,55,815 units. The YoY sales grew marginally by 4.7 percent as 2,44,271 units of the scooter were sold in Aug 2025.
Honda Shine also held on to the third spot with a double-digit growth of 10.2 percent. It posted sales of 1,80,626 units in Aug 2026 as compared to 1,63,963 units sold during the same month last year. TVS Jupiter occupied the fourth position as sales increased from 1,42,411 units in Aug 2025 to 1,47,450 units in Aug 2026 with a nominal YoY growth of 3.5 percent.

Despite a decline in YoY sales by 10.5 percent, Bajaj Pulsar bagged the fifth position by pushing Suzuki Access to the seventh spot with volumes of 97,839 units in Aug 2026 as compared to 1,09,382 units in Aug 2025. Hero HF Deluxe took the sixth position with sales of 69,794 units in Aug 2026. The YoY sales witnessed a dip by 22.2 percent as 89,762 units were sold during the same month last year.
Suzuki Access, coming down to seventh spot, registeres sales of 69,558 units in Aug 2026 with a YoY growth of 14.4 percent. The brand had sold 60,807 units of the scooter during the same month last year in India. TVS Apache grabbed the eighth spot with sales surging from 45,038 units in Aug 2025 to 55,123 units in Aug 2026 with a decent YoY growth of 22.4 percent.
Bajaj Chetak made a lot of headlines as it went on to record a staggering YoY growth of 272.8 percent last month as a total of 52,248 units of the electric scooter were sold in the domestic market as compared to 14,014 units in Aug 2025. TVS XL100 was the only moped in the list of top 10 two-wheelers with sales of 45,936 units in Aug 2026 as it recorded YoY growth of 4.7 percent. The company had sold 43,886 XL100 mopeds in Aug 2025.
