The sales growth momentum of FY26 continued into Apr 2026 as leading scooter models kept on clocking decent retail volumes in the domestic market

The scooter segment continued to register healthy YoY growth of 22 percent in Apr 2026 as the top 10 models clocked combined sales of 5,94,443 units as compared to 4,86,363 units sold in Apr 2025. Honda Activa continued as the undisputed leader of the segment with a share of 37 percent in the sales list of top 10 scooters in Apr 2026. No prizes for guessing this, I guess. On the other hand, Hero Destini became the fastest-growing model with a flabbergasting YoY sales growth of 489 percent in Apr 2026.

Starting with the Activa, it posted sales of more than 2.20 lakh units in Apr 2026 as compared to around 1.95 lakh units with a YoY growth of 13 percent. The second position was occupied by TVS Jupiter with retail volumes of over 1.17 lakh units last month against 1.03 lakh units in Apr 2025 with a YoY growth of 14 percent. It is also offered with 110cc and 125 engine options at starting prices of Rs 73,550 and Rs 78,100, respectively.

One of the foremost reasons behind rising scooter sales in FY26 is the rollout of GST 2.0 in Sep 2025 which made these models cheaper than before. The third position was secured by Suzuki Access with 70,339 units in Apr 2026 against 65,107 units sold during the same month last year. It registered a single-digit YoY growth of 8 percent.
