Suzuki Gixxer has been adjudged as the Bike of the Year by Bloomberg TV and Autocar India. The premium 150cc challenger has impressed thousands of bike enthusiasts and has given them a very competitive option against the existing crop of motorcycles in this segment.
Launched back in September, Gixxer houses a 154.9cc engine producing 14.8 PS of power and 14 Nm of torque. It is also a brilliant handler and confidence inspiring machine and came out the winner in our shootout against the fuel injected Yamaha FZ-S v2. You can read our official shootout review here.
The other award winners included:
- Import Bike of the Year: Triumph Daytona 675R
- Premium Bike of the Year: Harley Davidson Street 750
- Viewer’s choice Bike of the Year: KTM RC 390
We are sure, it would have been a tough fight between the RC390 and Gixxer but it was Gixxer which walked away with the crown in the end.
The event also saw the felicitation of best performing women officers from the Mumbai Police Traffic Department, as a tribute of their contribution to the city of Mumbai. This special tribute was given in acknowledgment of their outstanding service and impact to the society. The Mumbai Police Traffic Department, as part of their special initiative for women empowerment, encourages women to join the police services.
