2020 Splendor BS6 Revealed; Continues with Honda’s 97cc Engine

New Splendor BS6 launch in the coming few days; It continues with the same styling but gets new bright stickers…

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it“. Hero MotoCorp seems to be following the same mantra for its largest selling two-wheeler – Splendor. A video of the updated Splendor with Bharat Stage 6 compliance has surfaced which reveals the complete motorcycle.

And no surprises here as the bike continues with the same styling as before. Hero has just refreshed the stickers and it is now seen with dual tone graphics. The same old horizontally mounted 97cc engine appears to be doing duty here. Which means that Hero has updated the 1980’s Honda’s engine to the upcoming stringent emission norms with the help of a fuel injector in place of a carburetor, as that ‘FI’ sticker on the tool box confirms.

Hero is using the same engine on the HF Deluxe and in BS6 guise it produces 5.6 KW (7.61 PS) of peak power at 8000 rpm and 8.05 Nm of max torque at 6000 rpm. In comparison, the current Splendor BS4 churns 6.15 KW (8.36 PS) of power at 8000 rpm and 8.05 Nm of torque at 5000 rpm. How will it impact the Splendor is not known. Going by the badges, the new Splendor Plus continues with i3s – Hero’s Start Stop System.
