Rumor Says Bajaj to Launch More than One Avenger, Very Soon

Frequent snippets on the new Avenger and a confirmation by Rajiv Bajaj himself have led to a belief that the new motorcycle will be ‘new’ and reworked and not just a cosmetic enhancement or a mere color update. Now, in an interesting update, MoneyControl.com reports that Bajaj Auto will launch not one, not two but as many as three new Avenger models and they say it is happening this week!

We are very sceptical on this at this point and are treating this as a rumor. There has been no concrete development so far, such as spyshots on-road or from dealerships/factory or anything. We have received no intimation of any event so far as well.

They say that from the current average of about 4000 units per month, Bajaj intends to take Avenger sales to about 20,000 units and hence is the justification of the number of variants. 20,000 is a massive number and may not be possible for the niche brand in the near future.

Apart from this, the company will also announce a new motorcycle brand soon, which will sit alongside the Discover range and with this they intend to consolidate in the 125 cc segment where they are going down big time! In terms of numbers, Bajaj has sold only 40,460 125 cc motorcycles cumulatively (April to August 2015) down from the already low 73,864 units it managed during the same period last year. The market leader in this space, Honda, in contrast has registered sales of 3,45,639 units this financial year so far.
