Royal Enfield to Launch Rumbler, Continental GT in Colombia; Plans Local Assembly Later

Royal Enfield has inked a deal with Corbeta Group as their exclusive supplier in Colombia. The Corbeta Group will be Royal Enfield’s sole supplier and distributor and they will also be accountable for marketing, reselling and servicing Royal Enfield’s products in Colombia. They intend to tap in to the mid-size motorcycle segment in Colombia, which they see as a very strategic market.

The management believes that Colombia has a huge potential for helping the brand grow because of the demand for motorcycles and fantastic riding terrain, which will take leisure motorcycling to a different level altogether. They intend to carve out a new segment in Colombia, the mid-size motorcycles, which will have products in the range of 250-750cc of engine displacement.

Royal Enfield believes that the collaboration with Corbeta Group will help them gain in-depth understanding of the Colombian market. Corbeta group has experience in motorcycle business, infrastructure and aftermarket capabilities.

The Corbeta Group, after a commercial launch later this year, will open exclusive stores to retail the Royal Enfield brand. Royal Enfield will be introducing its Bullet, Classic and Rumbler range of motorcycles in both 350cc and 500cc capacities as well as the latest flagship Continental GT 535cc café racer in Colombia. Royal Enfield will also sell their wide range of apparel and accessories.

If you got confused, Rumbler is nothing but a different name for Thunderbird which may be because of some local naming issues.

With time, Royal Enfield will also aim to assemble motorcycles in Colombia, although no time frame has been set-up for that to happen. So, the company is getting real aggressive and has a new feel to it. In some time we also expect some surprises from them for India!
