One of the key reason why the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM, has been able to succeed in India is because of its killer pricing. There have been a few reports which say that KTM has raised their motorcycle prices, however, the company has shared an official word that there has been no hike after January 2015, when both KTM and Kawasaki products went through a price hike to accommodate the change in excise duty.
The current government rolled back the excise duty benefit, which the previous UPA government had brought in, which resulted in an excise duty hike of 4 percent (from 8% to 12%). This affected the two-wheeler as well as four-wheeler industry.
