Polaris RZR XP900 Wins the Desert Storm 2014 [Pics]

The 12th Desert Storm 2014 saw vehicles from Polaris, makers of off-road and ATV vehicles prove their worth. The company rider Raj Singh Rathore, on his Polaris RZR XP 900, secured first position in Xtreme 4 Wheeler category while a Polaris Sportsman 850 driven by Ankush Gulati came first in the Quad Category and sixth in the Moto/Quad Category.

The rally was flagged off from Sardarshahar, a town in Churu district of Rajasthan in the late night hours of 24th February 2014. The rally route took the drivers and riders 2500 Kms through Sardarshahar, Bikaner, and Jaisalmer to finally finish their journey at Jaipur. For the first time in the Desert Storm the competitors and their machines had to endure 3 nights of driving making things a bit more challenging.

There were 55 rallyist in the Xtreme 4×4 category and 35 riders in the Rally Moto riding motorcycles.

Raj Singh Rathore and navigator Vishnu Singh had the 88 bhp 4-stroke DOHC twin cylinder 875 cc RZR 900 XP with a ground clearance of 13 inches. The 2-seat ATV weighs 546 kg, dry, and has a payload capacity of 335.6 kg. The RZR XP 900 comes equipped with electronic power steering, on-demand true AWD/2WD, 4-wheel hydraulic discs with dual-bore front calipers, cast aluminum wheels, 27″ Maxxis Bighorns.

The Polaris Sportsman quad bike of Ankush Gulati had an 850 cc high output 4-Stroke SOHC twin cylinder engine. The bike has on-demand true AWD/2WD capabilities and weighs 351.4 kg, dry.
