Peugeot Scooters Spotted at Mahindra’s Facility

Mahindra has officially announced that it has acquired a majority 51 percent stake in Peugeot Motorcycles which is a more than 100 year old French company. With this development, it gets imperative that we begin to expect fine Peugeot scooters to be launched in India.

While Mahindra has been relatively quiet after investing an undisclosed amount, things seem to be developing under the wraps. Bikewale has shared some pictures of a few test units of Peugeot Scooters which are reportedly captured at some Mahindra’s facility in India.

The Scooters which have been pictured are…

  • Satelis (125 cc)
  • StreetZone (50 cc)
  • CityStar150 (150 cc)
  • Speedfight 3 (50 cc)

If these are the initial indications to go by, we would love to get the Speedfight (although with a bigger engine) and the 150cc City Star which can take on the Hero’s ZIR when it gets launched here sometime next year.

The typical French design flair which these scooters carry might not go down very well with many but they will definitely add some much needed spice to the sector. The cheapest of the Peugeot Scooters starts at almost the price point of the costliest Mahindra and hence internal cannibalization is not a factor. The French manufacturer sells scooters with engine displacements ranging from 50cc to 400cc which should give the company enough leverage to strike the segment with a heavy hand!
