Parichay 2011 – Celebrating Music

[Advertorial] Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering is ecstatic to present its annual cultural festival ‘Parichay 2011’ which promises to enthrall everyone who chooses to be a part of it. Situated in the accessible locale of Vile Parle (W), the college is rightly deemed as the 3rd best Engineering college of Mumbai and also comes under the prestigious 1% of the top engineering institutions all over India. This year the students of this esteemed institution are all set to spellbind everyone with a yet another fascinating festival.

Reaching new zeniths every time, this protégé of D. J. Sanghvi turns ten this year and everyone is invited to be a part of the celebrations on 3rd, 4th and 5th of March, 2011.

There’s no exaggeration when we say that this year the events are bigger and better than ever and that is saying something because of the grand success of Parichay2010. The festival, last year, witnessed a colossal participation of 8000 students from all over Mumbai. The marathon held last year was associated with the NGO ‘Lifetrust’, which supports underprivileged children, and saw 2400 people running for a noble cause.

With the bar set so high, you won’t be disappointed by Parichay 2011, a festival that is bound to redefine exhilaration for you. This time there are hair-raising mega-events like Sumo Wrestling, Rappelling, Mechanical Bull Riding, Paintball and Laser CS to name a few.

By no means is Parichay2011 all fun and no work. The students of D.J. are determined to do their bit for the country and take up the responsibility of conscientious youth. Every year, the festival is flagged by marathon run whose proceeds are given to charities. This year it is associated with two NGOs—IDF, that provides for leprosy patients, and Aseema, which works for under privileged children.

The 6.3 km run, this year, is expected to pull 3000 citizens of all age groups and the route spans D. J. Sanghvi College to Juhu bus-stand. This noble cause has attracted the likes of the singing sensation Shaan and Vishal Dadlani who are going to grace the occasion with their valued presence. The students hope to bring joy not only to the participants of the festival but also to the deprived people that the NGOs support.

Another major attraction is the Outhouse Treasure Hunt which will boast of 800 participants coming over from 60 colleges all over Mumbai. The Treasure Hunt will be a crazy race from Bandra to Versova with participants searching for car parts on 3 or 4 wheelers.

All this and more is the rocking festival that we call Parichay 2011. This year’s theme is ‘Celebrating music’ which has been chosen for its universal appeal. Music is rightfully said to be the language of the soul and this year’s festival will strike the right chords of passion, creativity and elation. Other highlights of the festival are the Interdepartmental wars, which bring out the competitive spirit among the different branches of the college that vie for the dazzling trophy; LAN Gaming and an Inhouse Treasure Hunt set along the lines of the riotous comedy- The Hangover. The cultural events that will set everyone’s heart pumping are Soulful Solo, Duet Singing, Laryngitis and So you Think you can Dance.

No cultural festival is complete without the breathtaking Nights. The stage will be set on fire by the Intra-college Dance Competition followed by the DJ Night that will be rocked by one of the most talented and popular Celebrity Akhtar. Engineers have the style and glam quotient and this will be proved when they walk the ramp for the Inter-college Fashion Show which will see participation from 15 colleges. The festival’s climactic ending will be The Inter-college Dance where the participants will bring emotions to life.

This is what Parichay is all about — a canvas for the vivid colours of innovation, panache and perseverance. Every individual is gifted and Parichay helps showcase your talent to the world. So come be a part of Parichay2011 and find yourself, your talent and most of all your identity.
