The S1 Pro+ with 5.2 kWh becomes the first company two-wheeler model to come equipped with the self-developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack
Ola Electric has started the deliveries of the S1 Pro+ 5.2 kWh, equipped with 4680 Bharat Cell, in the Indian market. It becomes the first model from Ola to be presented with its self-developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack in the country. With this, Ola Electric also becomes the first EV brand in India to fully own the battery pack and cell manufacturing process in-house. Priced at Rs 1.90 lakh (ex-showroom), Ola S1 Pro+ 5.2 kWh is the range-topping scooter model in Ola’s portfolio with a range of 320 km.
Speaking on the announcement, Ola Electric spokesperson said, “With deliveries of 4680 Bharat Cell powered vehicles underway, we are taking a giant leap towards achieving true energy independence. This milestone is not just about the 4680 Bharat Cell, it’s about India owning the future of energy and mobility. Our in-house cell technology enables us to build products with greater range, performance, and safety – all designed and made right here in India. The 4680 Bharat Cell is a symbol of India’s capability to lead the world in EV innovation, and this is just the beginning.”
Recently, Ola Electric was issued the ARAI certification under the latest AIS-156 Amendment 4 standards by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) for its in-house developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery packs in 5.2 kWh configuration. These battery packs are indigenously manufactured at the brand’s GigaFactory in Pochampalli, Tamil Nadu.
Ola S1 Pro+ 5.2 kWh touches the 0-40 kmph mark in just 2.1 seconds as it is powered by a 13 kW electric motor. Boasting of four ride modes namely Hyper, Sports, Normal and Eco, the electric scooter is offered with disc brakes at both the ends which work in tandem with a segment-first dual-channel ABS. Some of the notable styling elements include body-coloured mirrors, new die-cast aluminium grab handle, rim decals and dual-tone seat with supportive foam.
Ola S1 Pro+ 5.2 kWh is available in six modern colour schemes namely Passion Red, Porcelain White, Industrial Silver, Jet Black, Stellar Blue, Midnight Blue. The S1 Pro+ can also be availed with a 4 kWh battery pack at a price point of Rs 1.70 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the S1 Pro comes with 4 kWh and 3 kWh battery packs at prices of Rs 1.45 lakh and Rs 1.25 lakh (both are ex-showroom, India), respectively.
Ola Electric recently launched its first sports scooter in the form of the S1 Pro Sport with 5.2 kWh and 4 kWh battery configurations at prices of Rs 1.65 lakh and Rs 1.50 lakh (both are ex-showroom, India), respectively. The Bengaluru-based EV startup will start equipping its rest of the scooter models with the self-developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery packs in a phased manner.
