Ola Gig, Gig+ Electric Scooters Discontinued; Delisted from Website

Both the B2B models have also been delisted from the brand’s official website without delivering even a single unit to the customers

Ola Electric has silently discontinued the Gig and Gig+ electric scooters in the Indian market. Both the B2B models have also been delisted from the brand’s official website. The Ola Gig and Ola Gig+ were launched in Nov 2024 at price points of Rs 39,999 and Rs 49,999, respectively. Both the prices mentioned before are ex-showroom. The bookings of both these e-scooters started in Nov 2024 with first deliveries promised by April 2025. However, the deliveries couldn’t commence as planned and hence, it seems the brand has finally pulled the plug on its most affordable electric models.

Ola Gig was developed for gig workers with a smaller commuting distance as it is powered by a portable battery pack. It was strictly limited to B2B purchases and rentals. Equipped with a detachable battery pack of 1.5 kWh, the Gig electric scooter had a hub-mounted electric motor and IDC-certified range of 112 km on a single charge. Riding on 12-inch wheels, it had a top speed of 25 kmph.

As for the Ola Gig+, it was created specifically to meet the requirements of gig workers with extensive travel distances and heavier payloads. Identical to the Gig e-scooter, it was strictly restricted for B2B purchases and rentals. The Gig+ was offered with a removable single or dual battery pack of 1.5 kWh each with an IDC-certified range of 81 km (157 km X 2).

The Gig+ was rolled out with a hub-mounted electric motor which delivered peak power of 2 bhp. It had a higher top speed of 45 kmph so that the gig workers can maximise their earnings with faster order completions. Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman & Managing Director, Ola Electric had said during the launch that Ola Gig will further accelerate EV adoption while catering to a wide range of personal and commercial use cases with affordability, reliability, and safety as the core pillars.

Ola Electric had also launched the S1 Z and S1 Z+ alongside the Gig models. However, the S1 Z range has not been phased out by the brand as they are still listed on the company website, albeit with no fixed delivery timeline. Ola S1 Z and Ola S1 Z+ were offered at introductory prices of Rs 59,999 and Rs 64,999, respectively, in the Indian market. Both the prices mentioned before are ex-showroom.

The S1 Z range was presented with removable dual batteries of 1.5 kWh each with an IDC-certified range of 75 km (146 km X 2) and a top speed of 70 kmph. Some of the notable features onboard the electric scooters were LCD display, 14-inch wheels and a physical key. However, the S1 Z was fitted with 12-inch wheels instead of the 14-inch wheels seen on the S1 Z+.
