Ola Electric Achieves 1 Million Production Milestone – Details

Ola Electric rolled out the Roadster X+ in a special dual tone colour scheme from the Futurefactory in Tamil Nadu to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Ola Electric has achieved the production milestone of 1 million units in the Indian market. The 1 millionth electric vehicle was a Roadster X+ Special Edition which rolled out of the assembly line from its Futurefactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. It flaunted a midnight blue paint scheme with sporty red accents on the dual-tone seat, rims and the battery pack. For the unversed, the Bengaluru-based EV start-up started producing electric two-wheelers, beginning with Ola S1, nearly four years back in 2021.

Spokesperson, Ola Electric, said, “This marks the celebration of every Indian who trusted us and believed in our mission. In four years, we’ve gone from an idea to becoming India’s EV two-wheeler leader. We built at scale and proved that world-class products can be designed, engineered, and manufactured right here in India. This milestone is a testament to how far we’ve come, and we’re just getting started! Our mission is clear: #EndICEAge and make India the global EV hub.”

The Futurefactory in Tamil Nadu produces the entire range of S1 electric scooters which includes S1 Pro, S1 Pro+ and S1 X. In addition, the company will soon start the production of two more electric scooters namely S1 Z and Gig, which are predominantly for B2B purposes and gig workers. The Roadster X+ series of electric motorcycles is also manufactured at the Futurefactory.

Ola Roadster X+ Special Edition, the 1 millionth vehicle, boasts of badges developed from recycled copper waste and electroplated bar ends in order to promote sustainability. The Bhavish Aggarwal led company has become India’s first pureplay EV brand to reach the production milestone of 1 million units with all its foes such as Ather Energy, River Mobility, and Revolt Motors quite a long way behind.

Last month, Ola Electric held its annual ‘Sankalp’ event to unveil its future range of products. It forayed into the sports scooter segment by presenting the all-new S1 Pro Sport with 5.2 kWh and 4 kWh battery packs at a starting price of Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The battery packs will use the in-house developed 4680 Bharat Cell as deliveries are slated to commence from Jan 2026.

Furthermore, Ola Electric announced at the Sankalp event that it will start the integration of self-developed 4680 Bharat Cells in S1 Pro+ 5.2 kWh and Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh, priced at Rs 1.70 lakh and Rs 1.90 lakh, respectively, from this Navratri which falls on Sep 22. The company also stated that it is not affected by the global shortage of rare earth magnets which is a critical component and used in the motor of an electric vehicle.
