New Simple Family Scooter Design Patent Leaked – Ather Rizta Rival

The new family scooter from Simple Energy is likely to debut in the second half of 2026 in the Indian market to rival Ather Rizta

Simple Energy, the Bengaluru-based EV startup, has filed a design patent for a new family scooter in the Indian market. The leaked patent images reveal that the new family-oriented scooter will directly rival Ather Rizta in the domestic market. Presently, it retails two electric scooters in India namely Simple OneS and Simple One. The company’s journey has been topsy turvy in the country ever since it started sales operations in Aug 2020 with the launch of the Simple One. It has been trying hard to get into the list of India’s top 10 e2w brands since then.

Coming to the new Simple family scooter, it is likely to be a reliable, versatile and practical model similar to its rivals in the segment. The e2w industry in India has witnessed a massive surge in the sales of family scooters in the past few months which has propelled more EV brands to come forward and enter this segment with new models.

The leaked design patent shows that Simple family scooter flaunts distinct front fascia where the turn indicators are integrated into the handlebar cowl. The LED headlamp resembles the shape of sunshades. In addition, the family electric scooter from Simple Energy boasts of a flat floorboard, long single-piece seat and a pillion backrest.

The side body panels feature a pill-shaped design element which apparently has a keyhole as well, indicating that it might miss out on keyless start/stop and boot open/close function. The leaked front apron patent, christened as ‘Headstock of a vehicle’, gets a round keyhole, USB charging port, and retractable hook. Further, the main charging port also seems to be located here.

Some of the notable features expected onboard the Simple family scooter are a touchscreen TFT display, Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, telescopic front forks, 12-inch alloy wheels, and drum brakes among others. Needless to state, it will be a feature-loaded model with pricing likely to undercut its rivals due to heavy localization.

It could be rolled out with the 3.7 kWh fixed battery pack of Simple One with maximum range extending over 180 km on a single charge. The family scooter could be packed with a swingarm-mounted electric motor. As it appears to be in the early stages of development, we expect the family scooter to go on sale in the second half of 2026 in the Indian market.
