New Honda 125cc Scooter Design Patent Filed, Launch Soon

The Click 125 is already sold in Philippines and Thailand with 14-inch wheels as one of its biggest highlights

Honda is planning to expand its scooter portfolio in the Indian market. The brand already retails India’s top-selling scooter Activa with 110cc and 125cc engine options. Now, it has filed design patent for the Click 125 which is sold in multiple Asian countries such as Philippines and Thailand. However, it is still not known whether Honda Click 125 will be launched in the Indian market alongside the Activa or it is just an IP (Intellectual Property) protection exercise. Honda Click 125 rides on 14-inch alloy wheels as it in direct competition with Hero Xoom 125 and Aprilia SR 125. It boasts of an all-LED lighting which includes apron-mounted headlamp setup. A few other notable styling elements include rear pillion grab rail, dual-tone colour package, stepped single-piece seat, and sporty graphics.

The stopping power comes from front and rear disc brakes, which are assisted by a combi brake system. The suspension duties are carried out by telescopic front forks and monoshock rear unit. The underseat storage capacity is 18 litres while the front apron also gets small pockets for storing belongings such as smartphone with a USB Type-C port for charging on the go.

At the heart, the Click 125 houses the 125cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine which generates max power of 11 bhp and peak torque of 11 Nm. Unlike its liquid-cooled unit, most of the rival models come with an air-cooled engine. Tipping the weighing scale at 111 kg (kerb weight), it is claimed to return a mileage of 49.3 kmpl.

The Click 125 comes with a ground clearance of 131 mm, which could be less considering the condition of Indian roads. However, with due homologation, Honda will certainly contemplate increasing it to suit the Indian roads. It comes with a fuel tank capacity of 5.5 litres. The scooter can run up to 250 km without the need of refueling.

Honda Click 125 price in Philippines begins from PHP 82,400 which roughly translates to Rs 1.28 lakh. Just for the context and better understanding of our readers, Aprilia SR 125 is credited for bringing 14-inch wheels in the scooter segment, which was later followed by Hero MotoCorp as it rolled out the Xoom 125 with 14-inch wheels for mass population in India.
