Lohia Launches Oma Star Electric Scooter for Rs 40,850

Lohia Auto has launched their new electric scooter which goes by the name Oma Star. Priced at Rs 40,850 (on-road, Delhi), the Oma Star is aimed to provide a balance of performance, features and comfort. The scooter is powered by a 250 watt brushless motor which is in turn powered by a 20 AH battery.

The Oma Star in this new avatar also boasts of a top speed of 25 kmph and has a range of 60 km. Intended for short, in city rides, the scooter main USP is low running costs and zero tailpipe emissions. A maintenance free battery is another ace up its sleeves. It also gets telescopic front forks and alloy wheels.

Lohia has a manufacturing plant at Kashipur, Uttarakhand, where they also make motorcycles in a joint venture with UM. The standard variant of the Oma Star takes a charging of 6 to 8 hours under normal conditions. A lithium ion version of the scooter, called Oma Star Li, will also be available at a later date. This one would not just make the scooter lighter but also reduce the charging time by half.

With a restyled head lamp and digital speedo, this new electric scooter will be available in four colour options, which includes White, Red, Black and Grey. It measures 1,800 mm in length, 650 mm in width and 1,030 mm in terms of overall height.
